Hey guys i had problems with my external hdd which died so i removed both hdds, they are wd greens 1tb so i have 2x 1tb greens... Ive plugged them into my sata ports and used several programs such as recovermyfiles, AESUS or something like that, Raid reconstructor , r-studio.. When i plugged both hdd's in they were unallocated so i did a quick format, i know it was stupid but i can still retrieve data just need some guidance ... Anyways i usually use Raid reconstructor which detects stripe size etc, but for some reason as i analyze both HDD's in a raid 0 it says INSIGNIFICANT meaning it cant find the correct parameters/stripe size etc... Anyone help me recover my files which are very important 2 me, over 2 years of university work etc, any help is highly appreciated.. thanks j

What type of external enclosure was it ? My Book etc

I think some of these run BusyBox on a Linux system and you may need to plug the drives into a Linux based rig.

You can get more some more details here on My Book and how to mount the drives on a Linux system.

"correct parameters" might mean cluster size. Maybe you could try manually setting this?

Download this and run it ... may recover some file if it work :: Recuva - Features
File Recovery
::: http://www.piriform.com/recuva :respect: Best of luck man :toast:

Recovery from damaged or formatted disks
The dreaded hard drive crash. The file you forgot to backup before you reformatted a drive. The camera memory card with your holiday snaps that no longer works. Recuva can handle them too.

Windows (and other operating systems) uses a hidden index on hard drives, USB drives, and memory cards. Instead of having to search through the entire drive for a file you request, all it has to do is look it up in the index -- a much faster process.

Unfortunately, if the index is damaged, Windows can no longer find your files, even if the files themselves haven't been corrupted. That's where Recuva comes in.

Unlike Windows, Recuva scans all parts of a drive, looking for the bits that make up your files. If a drive's index has been damaged, chances are other parts of the drive may have been damaged too. Recuva will show you a list of files it has found on the drive, and give you an estimate of the likelihood of success of recovering them.

Similarly, when you format a drive (especially if you use the Quick Format option), Windows erases the hidden index but does not overwrite the existing files until you start saving new data to it. Recuva can still scan the drive's contents to find your files.

oh dude.. why would they ever put green hdd's in a raid setup? they are horrible for raid, because of their power saving.. causes the raid controller to go nuts thinking an hdd isn't there and cause the array to fail... something like that anyway..
