I think there's good reason to allow them to be embedded, like on General Nonsense. To avoid inappropriate use, you can just have a rule that says they must be tech related, to match the forum.
Here's an excellent example of the kind of stuff that would be beneficial to embed:

Having a picture to click on, rather than a boring old link, draws the viewer in much more.
Now tell me, what hardcore techy wouldn't like to watch a video like this!
