I have never heard of chipsets conflicting with GPUs. Have you tried looking in the BIOS for any GPU-related settings?

Yes I have come across what Red Machine mentioned.
Sometimes the motherboard chip set has a bit of a fit getting to recognize the GPU.

Sometimes it works sometimes it does not regardless of how many times you re seat the GPU.

I tested GPU with many mobos. it works with other chipsets even with G31. but not with any g41 mobos.

I did a bios flash. using tech power up bios file. Is there any setting I should try related this?

Is there any suggestion I shuld try? I can't even return my gpu to the manufacture because it works with other mobos.

well thats unusual, i was merely pointing out that incompatible combinations do exist - but they are very rare.

seems there is nothing I can do.btw thanks for the replying.

trust me, i know how much these problems suck.

once you rule out everything else like PSU problems, it sucks to realise the hardware wont work.

i was selling a machine (E8600, 8GB 1066 ram, x48, 8800GTX) and had to drop it down to an 8600GT for the video due to the problems... didnt make the buyer happy.

I can not remember exactly what made the card work unfortunately.

I had the issue with a M2N-SE ASUS motherboard.
Can't remember the chipset but it was not Intel.

The motherboard had issues with a 7100GT and a 8800GT.
I remember taking out the card to see what it was, reinstalled it and found it wouldn't go.

But then I did something which made it go, only I can not remember what that was.

Could try removing the CMOS battery and any other PCI devices including the card then drain the system of power for about 30 seconds, then put back the CMOS battery and fire it up with the basics.

once you have the system going, shut it down then install the GPU and fire it up again.

If it worked with the board before then all of a sudden quit then its either PSU or motherboard not just chipset

Final option I can think of is to try a new PSU.

Because like yourself, with the PC I was working on.
Regardless of what I did the GPU would just not work with the motherboard the second time round.

Since then the whole system was given to me.
I gave it another shot with a 8500GT and the system works and now use it as a test system.

With the same PSU an ACBell 600W PSU, I tried running an 8800GT in it and refused to go.

Since you are not able to refund with this card and know it works in another system, you can sell it.

Get another GPU.
