Hi I need your help with my config:

I just bought in seconhand: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4, OCZ black edition 12800 2*2Go OCZ3BE1600C8LV4GK, AMD Phenom X4 955 BE and Sapphire HD5850.
I already had a great Seasonic 500W

First boot: it doesn't boot ! I remove a DIMM and it works, timings and voltage had to be changed because the motherboard wasn't giving the good settings.
After some problems, one of the DIMM had a lots of errors on Memtest. I removed it thinking the problem was solved.

I made another memtest on the other DIMM with no errors in 3hours. Anyway, I'm still facing various BSOD, crashes during gaming, and always BSOD when doing prime95 blend test.
I also tested OCCT CPU test which gave me errors too. Remember i'm not overclocking anything. I flashed to the last Bios but didn't change anything.

Do you have some idea as both motherboard and ram are new and coming back from RMA...

just to double check, try diffrent ram if avalible, change out the psu if this still produces diffrent bsod's then i would look at the board as fault

Do you think it can be the PSU ? 3.3V,5V and 12 V are quite good :(

What are you bsod error codes?
Always different ..

Always different ..

they may be showing that under a light load but it may be an entirely different ball game under a heavier load. in trouble shooting you need to look at everything even if you "know" its good

all PSU will have 3.3v 5v and 12v rail. What are you trying to say??

What PSU do you have??

those codes will lead you to an answer;) if you can please try to get even the error if it is flashing too fast to read.

@ FTW I think he means they show good voltages in bios or with a DMM.

During POST, you can hit the Pause/Break key to halt the process so you can take your time to read everything. Hitting it at the right time can be tricky though.

I will try to have a working PSU to test..

on the BSOD it will say STOP: reason for stoppage. Under it you will find 0X000..... codes. The first one is usually sufficient;)

Anyway, can the CPU be responsible? I wouldn't like to, because this is the only component not under warranty.

Well I'm testing 2Go of Gskill value 1333 DDR3 and no error or BSOD after 2 hours of prime95 blend test.
However does it means my ram is faulty? As i'm testing 1333 DDR3 with 9-9-9-24 1T
and my own ram is 1600 DDR3 with 8-8-8-24 2T :/
Furthemore as I said it previously my ram didn't return error on another config..

not means faulty, may your mem volt needs up a tad bit.
check your ram specs see what they rated for, then adjust, then try different
set up like 1600 / 9-9-9- 24 2t and soo on

Using the above setting increase NB voltage a bit ( i belive 1.65 . If you hae a CPU/NB voltage setting increase it to 1.30V also. Does that help with stability?

Actually, this is kind of a known bug, IMHO.

The divider the mobo is using is broken. Try setting your ram @ the 1333 divider, and then sacle up the HTT to get the ram to 1600mhz. You can drop the HTT multi and cpu multi down to eliminate them as causing the problem.

No that's the first think I tried :(

You mean setting ram multiplier at 6.66 instead of 8 then increase the cpu fsb (initially at 200) to get ram back to 1600 and playing with multiplier to get the right cpu frequency as well ?
Anyway why the divider may be broken ?

Divider issue is kinda bios-based. Anyway, AMD doesn't officially support 1600mhz divider, only mobo makers do, so you need the right bios with some boards, other just plain old don't work.

In my case i was getting BSOD's all over even though memtest and Windows memory test weren't showing any errors. Didn't really matter what stick was used. Replaced the RAM and now all is well.
It was OCZ amemory as well. Either their stuff is incredibly incompatible with everything or they just sell junk. They are going off the RAM scene anyway if we can believe the news...

I'm testing right now my whole config with another mobo: 880GM-UD2H we'll see.

no, as pp stated before 1600mh probably wont work with your board.

and; they sed OCZ is not realy good for you, i looked into ather forums, seems right.

If i remember corectly you did try diff rams and they fine... ( kingstone/patriot)

Sell your OCZ and buy more compatible ( to known by MB maker + pp)

Yours not on it, whitch most case not important butt
lower to 1333 see wats going on

http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-790xta-ud4.pdf

For the memory here is the thing. AMD only officially supports 1333. Some can get 1600mhz to work in Dual Channel. In the Mobo manual it says that any memory running at past 1600 mhz needs to be in Dimm 3 and Dimm 4.
