Hello all,

i am currently using windows 7 and using the Homegroup to share music and videos with the family.

the problem that i am having with it however is that whenever i add new content to the folder it does not share these in the homegroup, i have to go through and reshare every file that i add, easy enough for videos, but when music gets put into folders by artist and album it gets to be kinda crazy to make sure it gets added.

is there a way to automate this process so that when it gets into the folder it is shared?

Thanks in Advance

Raymond

I can't help, but Homegroup sux in my opinion. It's another attempt to 'make it too easy' for the family. Classic folder sharing is easy enough and less intrusive/obstructive!!

I have it, but I am about to deactivate it everywhere in my network!

There must be a checkbox somewhere like "also share subfolders." Haven't dealt with it myself, but that's my best guess.

go to home group right click and go to properties... then go to advanced sharing properties... make sure you have Public folder sharing turned on...

@ erixx he didn't ask for your opinions on home group he jst asked for help with the settings

thanks for the reply garyinhere, i checked and this setting is currently enabled but still no dice, just tried to add file to the folder, and is in a not shared state it will still share if i manually right click the file and specify it to be on the homegroup

would it be easier to maybe just move all music into Public Music, and videos to Public videos?

it would be easier that way... make sure you right click on the folder you want to share .... go to share with... select homegroup read and write.
