How can it be a compatibility problem when the AMD driver never changes?

I will admit that I've never had a working Asus AM3 board. Several MSI boards and a handful of Gigabyte boards. All the MSI boards are horrid about it and come up often. Gigabyte less but still happens. Seems the longer I have the computer up the more often it happens. Have also tried without Logitech driver and still persists.

If its happenign with all the boards but always the mx 3200 then it could be the mx3200 the problem! or the little reciever is defective. It could be also like me where the wireless module is plugged could get some interference by the computer itself or the case could block the signal. Since im using a usb extender wire and put the usb wireless reciever on top of my case i have no problems anymore.

Not the MX 3200 problem.

1) X58 system has never once exhibited the problem
2) All AM3 boards without the USB filter driver (SB Driver) never have problems
3) These are all on Vista SP2 and W7 both x64
4) I know about having the receiver in range and it now sits on top of the tower I use
5) Even with the receiver sitting on the desktop with my mouse I still would get drops as the system acted like it had lost the signal for a second or two
6) Turned off USB power save in Windows
7) Did it with or without Logitech software
8) On all AM3 boards if I don't install the AMD USB filter the problem never happens. Guaranteed.

I don't know what it is but there is something wrong with the AMD driver. Sad part is that Windows uses a "MS driver" with the same version number as the AMD part.

I don't really care anymore since I figured it out but I'm sure there are a few people who go nuts with this. I kind of wonder if the corrupt mouse that has been around since the 5000 series launch for Eyefinity is not related.

As a side note they need to fix this driver. I always, on all my AM3 boards have problems with mouse tracking when the SB Driver is installed. It is like it times out for a couple seconds then picks back up, then drops, then picks up, etc. Extremely annoying and no it is not something else. My X58 board never has once experienced this problem. On AM3 if I don't install SB Driver problem never happens.

really... you think the SB driver is the cause of the mouse lockups? does your system go non responsive when that happens?

I've had similar issues, but thought it was my sil image E-sata card causing them

huh? I just meant why is AMD bundling motherboard related drivers into their graphics drivers. Seems like needless bloat.

They have package drivers, and non packaged drivers.

The packages are for those of us with complete AMD systems - its nice to get all in one stuff for mobo/GPU (especially if you run an IGP like my media system)

I had similar issue, I wrote about it some time ago. My mouse completely stopped working instead of just locking up, so Mastdrver is in better situation, than I was:).

No thinking. I know. I have tried everything else possible. It is consistant. If the usb filter (from the SB driver) is installed the problem is present. If I don't install it, the problem never happens. I've gone as far as disabling all possible board power saving functions in bios and disabling all Windows power saving options. Only the usb filter driver being installed makes the problem arise.

This has been through a mix match of cases, power supplies, hard drivers, ram, cables, etc so it is not possible to be any of the "other" parts of the computer whether they ever have any kind of influence or not.

It is not locking up just becomes non responsive for a second or two then comes back for a few minutes and out for a second etc. Sometimes the timeouts will be bunched up (4 or so) and sometimes it will be one or two and disappear for a while.

What is the usb filter for anyway? That's what I can't seem to figure out.

Yep especially when your mobo has ATI chipsets with onboard ATI video. Like my sus M4A785-M

I was thinking the same. I found similar problems to yours and mine in AMD Game forums:
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=130967
I didn't want to reinstall windows again and was searching to know if i need to install this driver at all. I think that this USB filter driver is useful only if you have integrated sound or USB sound device, because it filters unwanted sound thru USB. "The USB audio filter is an extensive development of the AMD as they are used to filter the unwanted sound effects of the sound."

son of a..... because you guys mentioned the audio aspect of it, i decided to test my bluetooth headset over USB again.

This time i tested over the AMD USB 2 ports (direct to case was fine with occasional bursts of static), while connecting to the extension port on my keyboard was unusable due to intereference... but if the extension was to the non AMD USB 3.0 port, no problems with the bluetooth audio!

i'm gunna try removing that USB filter driver and see if it makes the USB2.0 bluetooth audio work properly

It actually should have been the other way round - no static or interference when Filter driver installed:eek::confused::laugh:

well i checked both ways around, and the 2.0 ports just cause static.

the 3.0 ports don't however, either connected directly or via the keyboard.
