meh, 2x 5850 in CFX isn't too exciting... 2x 6850s would have been better

As far as I understand it, the 5850 is faster than the 6850, and better in most everything except Tesselation, where the 6850 wins by like 6-8%. Honestly, I think that anything beyond 5850 in Crossfire is overkill for gaming.

I was referring to CFX scaling... It is much better with 6850s than with 5850s

I purchase two Gigabyte 6850's from Newegg and then returned them because the performance was not up to stuff for me at least. Then found the power-color 5850 for 169.99 and jumped on it. The 6850's Functioned fine but less performance than 5850. Here are my results running 3D Mark Vantage with Performance settings using the same computer. Check out the benchmarks all over the web. The 5850 is closer to the 6870 with the 6870 about 3-5% faster.

In Crossfire and overclocked to stable Max. (no increase in core voltage)
5850 Average Score(5 runs) - 21,600
6850 Average Score(5 runs) - 18,700

At Stock, in LOW FPS GAMES (where it really matters, ie: not in 125+ fps games, like Crysis and Metro 2033) the 6850CF sees good improvements, especially around 1920x1200. You can see 10%+ in these situation.

From Guru3D, Metro 2033 go from 35 to 40 FPS, Crysis DX10 goes from 62 to 68 FPS, Far Cry 2 goes from 88 to 117 FPS. In BF BC2, you only see a 1FPS increase, 74 to 75 FPS. Dirt 2 from 102 to 112. The Anon 1404 they don't include 5850 CFX, and CoD MW2 sees better performance by 3~4%, but the FPS is already so high that it doesn't matter (134~139)

And a 6870 is more then 3~5% faster, maybe 5~8%.

Still I thought the difference between the 6850s and 5850s would be bigger, guess not
