Clean thermal Paste from PCB around ATI die???

So I was messing around with an old card of mine.... and was putting on some new TIM. When while cleaning off the old stuff.... I got a big goober of it on the PCB surrounding the die it's self. I tried gently with a tissue to get it off but because this stuff is so crappy I had no success.

Any safe ways to get clean it from around there with causing any damage to it? I will show you a generic pic of where I am talking about.

rubbing alcohol,try some q tips to get in between the resistors.Or try soaking it in a bath of alcohol.

Use a least 90%+ rubbing alcohol.

But, for the big wash jobs try this: 05103 -- QD® Electronic Cleaner , I use it on radio equipment and such.

Read the pre-cautions on label! Use it safely.

i always us rubbing alcohol and baby buds as well to get into the tricky bits use a soft small paint brush

That should work just fine. Normally, you would want the highest concentration of alcohol available as it does evaporate much faster, but just let your card sit sans cooler for an hour or so to ensure everything has dried before reassembly and you should be good!

I use arctic clean myself but yeah you can use Isopropyl alcohol aka rubbing alcohol. It just won't do as good job as Arctic Clean.

As rickss69 said, toothbrush and Isopropyl work wonders. Plus, if you're clumsy like me and always cut yourself when doing mods, you have some rubbing alcohol at hand to clean your cuts too!
