HELP!! Odd Browser problem after Virus

I was fixing this computer that had the Smart Internet Protection 2011 Virus on it and I removed the infection but now I am able to go to any website except for gmail.com. I can go to google.com but if i click the gmail link it displays "Page could not load" error. I installed thunderbird and gmail worked through it but the Cx wants to use the browser.

Reset your browser to factory settings. What browser are you using?

Already did that. IE8. Fixed it by resetting IE and fixing registry.

Try installing Firefox or Chrome. If one of those doesn't work, you'll know it's not a browser problem.

Been there Done that. Determined that there was a rootkit and OS reinstalled.

haha cx, man i use that term a 100 times a day. i read it and it seemed totally natural then i was like um im not at work. so did you get this fixed? and binary mage, seriously, read wtf he said man. you did check for a proxy setting right? lol i know that's basic but if the https crap is set it could interfere w/ gmail if you use ssl version or whatever.

OSRI stands for Operating System ReInstall
