Hey all,

I am looking for a new gaming monitor at 23" or 24".
I was looking to spend from 150 - 250 for this new monitor.
I am really looking for the best bang for the buck, but a good monitor (no cheapo ones).
I have been looking at either Asus or Samsung monitors lately.
Thanks guys.

Well, if you can stretch to 26", I recommend the iiyama model I have (see specs). Resolution is 1920x1200, has good colour rendition and fast response. I can play Unreal Tournament on it at breakneck speed without any problems. :D

If you can find a similar monitor with the same resolution and LED backlighting, then so much the better.

Thanks but 26" is too big.
Looking to get 2 other of the same 24" monitor soon for eyefinity.

but don't know if it's available in the us...
future proof monitor ;)

In technology there is no such thing as future proofing since it changes so often.
I am not a fan of 3d at all and not looking to play anything in 3d even if it was available.
Just looking for a good monitor that is good with fps.
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

i don't use 3d ;)
it's the 120 hz refreshrate that let me buy this monitor...
and by future proof i mean, maybe if you changed your mind in the future about the whole 3d thingy...next step are glasses or holographic and that's talking long terms ;)

Any decently priced monitor from Samsung, LG, or other reputable brands are good. There are so many monitors out there that its hard to choose, but most of them share similar screens (ie come from the same factory), but have different casings. Pick your resoulution, your size, check review to make sure that there is no problem (amazon is good, newegg is good too), and you are good to go.

Ahh I was unaware of that.
Good catch there.
For right now I am ok with a 60hz setup.
Not a problem there.

Just out of curiousity how does it perform in games?

I would look into LED monitors. My 24" monitor looks good, but the LED ones puts it to shame. Looks like the old CRT boxes.

that's the monitor I have: ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescr... Decent for what it is. My only issue is the base is a little brittle. I got to replace mine. The price is good, but I would still look for the LEDs. I like that samsung too. Oh, I didn't even see the ASUS with LED background. That would be my vote.

Oh yeah, it's smoother all right - you've got twice the temporal resolution. It helps reduce the motion smear a bit, too.

I'd be interested in a 120Hz monitor with 1920x1200 resolution.

I have the samsung p2450h and I have to say that I was stupid when I bought it:laugh:.The colors are mediocre, there is a lot of backlight bleeding and I could have got this at the same price.Bottom line, don't get it unless you can find it under 170$(deactivated in Newegg so I don't know the price).

A Dell IPS. Oh yeah, I'll bet that looks good. Dell do have a good name in monitors, odd as that sounds.
