.. well, I have major trouble with in game (dead space 2 and fallout: new vegas) random freezing, when happened, whole PC becomes unresponsive, so manual restart is required, ctrl-alt-del wont work .. graphic card drivers updated, direct x updated, win 7 32 updated, firewall disabled, fallout updated, so far no luck .. interesting that picture freezes randomly, but sound stays in the background, I dont think it's game related, mentioned games freezes very similar .. any suggestion?

thanks!

do you have an overclock on that gtx 260? if so try slowing it down a bit as since the sound keeps going its almost 100% the graphics card doing it

that might be the problem as the 192 core gts 260 needs a minimum 500w supply, yours could be the 216 core version that would make the minimum go even higher, add in the sound card and high end processor and you may just be exceeding your psu limits, try under clocking and see what happens

Could you use values at load please because idle temperatures are always really low compared to load temperatures

this should do well if you want a quick load temp reading

The 216 uses less power, get your facts right?

Well, it could be down to a number of things. What drivers do you currently have?

And by the way, your card will not reach those extreme temps during gameplay. Furmark is to basically stress the temperature threshold of your graphics card.

Lol, found the problem, as you can see in the photo, your driver number is something like 102838484843.68. Which is epic fail.

Go to start> control panel> add/remove programs.
Then uninstall anything with the name Ati/ Nvidia

Then once done go : http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Download the newest drivers, install and it will work.

Basically the problem is you have conflicting drivers so your card can't perform well.

.. no luck, I did removed all nvidia drivers from safe mode with driver cleaner and from control panel-uninstall programs, but gpu-z shows exact the same result as before (last screenshot) ..

Sometimes certain driver versions just don't work very well, try installing an older driver from the archives and see what happens

.. here we go again, downgrade nvidia drivers to 260.99, dead space 2 still same issue, freezing/lock up PC after 10 minutes playing, is there a some sort of minidump so I can see what causes it?

.. and Fallout:New Vegas, still freezing .. I give up, now every single game I played - freezing .. it has to be something with OS

There is still a problem with the drivers, something is interfering with them. Look at this.

As you can see, the driver number IS correct, unlike yours.

.. I see, but I'm not sure what else to do except format c, I did removed drivers from safe mode-control panel-uninstall programs, even from device manager-uninstall device and software, using driver cleaner after that, and also from regedit manually removed everything related to "NVIDIA" .. device installation settings set to "never install driver from windows update" ..

..hm, using GPU-Z 0.5.1 instead 0.3.2 gives that result you speak of, now what?

Could be a PSU overheating issue. I started running into the same problem, ended up taking a can of compressed air to the PSU after I saw that it was quite dusty.

A quick component cleaning never hurts when troubleshooting.
