SLI not enough? Try Quad SLI!

Gigabyte was the first to introduce SLI on a single card, now they are the first to introduce SLI with 4 cards on their GA-8N-SLI Quad board which is currently been tested by Gigabyte.
Besides 4 slots for videocards the boards supports a socket 775 Pentium 4 processor and 4 DDR2 dimms. Though since it's based on an Nforce 4 I'd say an AMD version isn't out of the question.
Unfortunately a releasedate isn't known yet, I'd suggest you start saving your money though since 4 6800's cost quite a lot.

More details...

Wow, its going to be expensive. The heat output will be big to, need really good cooling.

The four card solution is obviously because of this:

"ATI will showcase its own multi-GPU solution "Crossfire" at this year's Computex. The company did not release any detailed information about the technology but sources said users will be able to combine Crossfire-enabled cards with any other graphics card. Also, ATI's approach appears not to be limited to just two GPU - or four such as in this case. Crossfire may be able to support up to 32 graphic chips, sources said."

32 GPUs, thats expensive lol.

I don't think you would have a case that would fit the many gpu's.

I don't think anyone makes a motherboard with enough slots, but anything is possible.

there are mainboards for this the dfi one for socket 939 has a pci 1x slot between the two pcie slots so there would two two slots cooler fit
but then u need a cpu like an 4000+ and a ocz 600watt real power supply

There already were quad 9800's for flight sims. So 32 way GPU's won't be uncommon fo simulations. Ofcourse such extreme things come for a price, which I don't even dare to speculate about. Don't think it won't exist though.

this is future , & in my mind , just see one card or two @ max triple on a MB !

it didn't mean u will have 32 on one or many cases ! but u will have a card with many gpus & a gpu with many cores . &this already begin

consider this ; even giga MB aint support four single board !

who knows , maybe we are so close to catch future soon !

I think multi-gpu is getting out of hand, especially the standards department.

ViperJohn told me ATI has had commercial-only systems that have 32 GPUs in them for years. I didn't know. ATI has not said anything on their site about more than 2 cards.
