If its the same RAM with the same timings it will work as dual channel, but it will run @ 2T instead of 1T (which shouldnt be too big of a deal m8) ;)

But forcing 1T on 4x sticks of RAM can make your system unstable :(

Absolutely right
I made a try with 4x512MB Corsair PC3200C2 @200MHz and 2-3-3-6 timings... it refused to boot! :D
Same timings but command rate 2T and 2.7 memory voltage and the system runs smooothly

Hi there. I am going for some Corsair ram. Is it better to have 4x512 or 2x1 gb.
I thought 2x1gb so i can place some extra in the future. Performance wise i don't know.
Thanks.

2x 1GB all the way m8 ;) (this will enable the RAM to run at full speed @ 1T)

4x 1GB is just a waste really ;) (unless your going to use Vista)

Stick to 2x 1GB for the best performance, like I always say "sometimes less is more" ;)

4x512 would give more bandwidth even at 2T

I answered the question from a 'gamers' POV as 'technicks' has a nice X1950Pro (so he must be a gamer)

Most gamers would prefer to have 2x 1GB @ 400MHz & 1T, rather then have 4x 512mb @ 333MHz & 2T (obviously this is if DDR400 is installed)

Ask any gamer and I bet they agree ;)
