It's better to run the same brand as there "should be less issues" with compatibility. That said I have run many kits together. As long as they are the same speed, timings, and voltage, you should have no real issues running different kits together. You may however need to raise the NB volts to allow for the 8GB of ram to run stable;)

how do i know which is the NB volt in my bios particularly?

North Bridge voltage will be in the MIT section under the voltage selection. Not positive on what its labeled, I would assume its labeled North Bridge or MCH Voltage.
