So I decided to keep my E8400, after doing much research into Core i5 and Core i7.
I have been led to believe that it is NOT worth upgrading to an i5 or i7.
As the E8400 is just as good if OC'ed to 4.0Ghz or higher! (for PC gaming)
Anyways, I managed to reach 3.8Ghz (from 3.0Ghz) on STOCK volts.
NOTHING has been changed in the BIOS. However, I cannot get to 4.0Ghz.
system is 100% STABLE!
I raised my CPU Vcore to 1.30v (from 1.25v; stock). I tried every voltage for the Vcore.
NOTHING IS WORKING!
Why is it so difficult to just get another 200Mhz?!
My research has also proven that an E8400 can reach 4.5Ghz!
This is my ultimate GOAL!
And then from there, I can get an Antec Nine Hundred V3, Sapphire 6870 Vapor-X,
and possibly a Cosair TX 750W PSU so I can OC a lot more.
(Wait, isn't the 5870 faster than a 6870 in single-card mode?)
I just really need help figuring out why I can't reach 4.0Ghz.
Ahhh! nevermind. It is not stable at 3.8Ghz on Stock volts.
It just crashed on me.
Raised CPU Vcore to 1.30v... see how this works.
WOW!!!!!
I'm an idiot. This whole time I ignored the Memory.
So I tinkered the with that and managed to get 4.0Ghz!
I'm at 1.35v... gonna try and increase some more.
Only problem is I had to decrease the clock on my RAM from 1067 to 890.
Stock Mhz on my RAM is 800Mhz anyways, so I still gained, but not as much as i want!
