Hello,
I just recently got a GTX 570.
I did a clean install of 7 when I installed it and I am having some pretty serious problems.
My system keeps hanging with the HDD light stuck on even when it sounds like there is no activity. I cleared the CMOS, loaded all defaults and I was still getting issues.
I am getting a bunch of I/O errors when ever I use utorrent.
Today, I got a BSOD
" BugcheckCode 122
BugcheckParameter1 0xfffff6fc400283b0
BugcheckParameter2 0xffffffffc0000185
BugcheckParameter3 0x16da19be0
BugcheckParameter4 0xfffff88005076000
SleepInProgress false
PowerButtonTimestamp 0"
I looked at the event viewer and there are
a lot of errors with the source "atapi" and for event data they all say "\Device\Ide\IdePort3"
I ran chkdsk and I didn't find any errors.
I changed sata from AHCI to IDE mode which didn't help.
I mean the 570 is handling all of my games without issues, but is it possible that it
could still be the video card?
Any ideas?

"IDE to AHCI without re-installing OS" can be done (apparently (needs feedback))

1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor
8. Restart and change IDE to AHCI in the BIOS

Source.

im fairly CERTAIN this is not an ACHI - IDE problem..... you guys need to stop there.

hes was getting blue screens before he changed that option.... and the fact that windows booted is another sign ACHI is not the issue.

perhaps the install was corrupt duing installing windows, i would reinstall windows to make sure, set your Bios up correctly before doing so.

MY idea:

PSU.

Could jsut be corrupt windows, HDD on it's way out, or the board itself. Could be a bad partition, too.

Thank you all for the responses!
I tried reinstalling windows 3 separate times.
I guess I could install it on another drive.
The system is not currently Overclocked.
I will let you know if I have any luck on another drive.

if you have tried 3 times then i would definetly say its either the HDD itself, the power cable or Sata cable, the Motherboard Sata slot or the PSU.

Do you have any devices plugged into the PATA connector (like a cd/dvd).
If you do; try disconnecting them.

Sounds like a bad SATA port on the mobo....or on it's way out......switch the port and reboot....no need to reinstall yet.

Hope it helps. :)

I replaced the cable, removed all other drives and it seems to be better.
I'm going to add them beck in one by one and see if i get any more issues.
Hopefully it was just the cable.
Also, it was not only happening when I was using utorrent.
Thanks again!
