My ancient 8800GT can play back blurays just fine, its what I use in my HTPC with a DVI to HDMI dongle.

i was gonna say any motherboard with an hd4200 igp. but for some light gaming a GT240 or an HD4650. btw 512mb would be enough... i can play game like borderlands on max, and crysis on high settings with my 9600gt 512mb.

A GT220 is a good card as well, it also has HDMI which is capable of doing 7.1 Surround Sound

any 8800/9600+ card for nvidia
any HD3200+/HD4200+
with the right drivers and codecs(very important) though pretty much any 8 series(8400GS+) card or HD 3200+
even the cheapest cards from the HD5XXX and G4XX should do it but you need the right codecs and a decent cpu.

Well, it depends on what you are looking for. Intel's new Sandybridge built on graphics can handle it fine, along with Zecate's and 4200 IGP. If you are looking for a standalone graphics card, it will be any of the lowest end graphics card out there. No, you don't need outrageous amount of ram like 512mb, the smallest amount will do. Erocker's suggestion is what I would go for if I ever need one.
You can't get graphic cards with less than 512MB of RAM these days. Even the lowest end ones...

Wait till July or after and get the new Zacate from AMD w/ 6600 series gfx inside http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Fusion#.22Llano.22_.2832nm.29. For now i would also go with 5450 (discrete) and a 4200 variation for IGP.
