SPARKLE, the professional VGA card manufacturer and supplier, today proudly announces Calibre P880+ OC Edition and Calibre P880 OC Edition, the world's first overclocked GeForce 8800 GTX and GTS graphic cards powered by high efficient TEC active cooler system. This new SPARKLE flagship card meets the need from PC enthusiasts who are looking for the next level of reality in gaming.

Based on NVIDIA's next generation G80 architecture, Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphic card adopts innovative unified architecture, dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations, delivering up to 2x the gaming performance of prior generation GPUs. Built upon technologies such as NVIDIA Lumenex Engine, providing support for DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0, NVIDIA Quantum Effects technology for physics computation and GigaThread Technology for extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.

Besides the great performance with HDR lighting effects and full-scene anti-aliasing, Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphics card is fused with the high efficient TEC active cooler system co-developed by MACS Technology Inc and SPARKLE, which creates your ultimate gaming experience. This high efficient TEC active cooler system co-developed by MACS Technology Inc and SPARKLE absorbs aerospace technologies used in NASA's space shuttle cooling territory. It employs aerospace technologies such as thermal transducer, aerodynamics, heat transfer and embedded software control for cooling the possibility of overheat problem on G80 GPU.

Furthermore, helped with the high efficient TEC active cooler system, Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphic card embraces higher oveclocking capability. Compared with 575MHz/500MHz core clock and 1800MHz/1600MHz memory clock of ordinary GeForce 8800 GTX and GTS graphic cards, Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphic card is "overclocked-out-of-the-box" with 630MHz/560MHz core clock and 1960MHz/1720MHz memory clock, giving hard core gamers an extra boost in performance at no extra cost.

"With full support for DirectX 10, the extreme blazing fast Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphic card is ready for the next generation games while making easy work of today's top titles. " Said Kevin Wang, sales director of SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd. " PC Enthusiasts and gamers looking for a overclocked-out-of-the-box G80 graphic card can surely rely on Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphic card and get the best DirectX10 gaming fascination from Calibre P880+/P880 OC Edition graphic card."

Seems like they couldnt push the card that far.
That cooler is mad hot, but must take up a hell of a lot of room.
Room that we prob. dont have since the card is huge to begin with.

i thought these 8800's didnt even use the right architecture, or something like that i keep reading from people on this board. so why so many companies jumping on board?

aren't the 8800's highly bottlenecked by todays processors anyway?

This new SPARKLE flagship card meets the need from PC enthusiasts who are looking for the next level of reality in gaming.

I'm sorry but I really don't call an extra 75mhz core clock "the next level of reality". The only thing I would call that is a new shader model or DX version which this card does not offer over the regular 8800GTX.

Added OCing out of the box without the extra cost. A wicked mad cooler (TEC TEC!) and pretty to boot. Cant go wrong with this. And the benefits are more than superb. Id buy it if I could afford one HA!

exactly, which begs the question, how many people are actually buying these cards!! arent we getting a bit ahead of ourselves here?

ati is also the company offering two diff models of the same damn card x1300xt x1600pro hell the x1650pro is almost the same as well

and at least nvidia gives you the option to oc your cards to the next series up in performance hence my ti4200 is running at ti4400+ speeds most ppl run 6800gs @ 6800gt and higher the list goes on i mean you have to admit Nvidia makes the BEST midrange cards out there as far as ocing abilities are concerned

oh and those 50pts are still 150pts over the ati cards out right now

Is purple a really popular colour for enthusiasts? I notice that ECS uses it a lot on their motherboard. I'm really not a big fan of purple, so I'm just wondering what other people think. Does product colour affect your purchasing choices?

Get an inverted case and UV accenting :rockout:.

Finally some manufacturer is bold enough to make a good custom cooler! (Holy shit heatpipes galore).

Dude, the ati cards are the low end models so it doesn't matter. A gimmick like this (it looks good tbh) is nearly disgraceful for a highend. X1650XT Is a mid range killer, it kills the 7600GT so badly that its not funny.

Nvidia cards aren't good for OCing! Unless you are on water cooling/phase change, they totally are in the same boat as ATI. 6800GT Isn't a midrange for god's sake, its a high end card (well used to be).

The past doesn't matter, only the present does.

i wouldnt touch that cooler with a 40-foot pole; nor would anybody who knows anything about TEC cooling.

Really? It seems a sound concept to a TEC noob like myself. Care to elaborate XooM?

I know what you mean; there is a high chance of faliure, also being very unreliable due to its compact form factor and using a lot of power. But once its working properly (The card itself) Its okay to use. However I think you are probably worried about the fact that the cooling system has a high probablitity to fail right?

TEC isn't that bad of a deal. Granted it is a risky thing, but to me, it seems like sparkle has hit the nail on the head. Its great at cooling and even rivals liquid/phase change. Me and someone else had a discussion on the boards awhile back about this. Wikipedia even has some stuff listed on it. TEC is great, just damn expensive. I wonder if the cost will be added to the card itself

First off, there is no good way to implement TEC cooling in this situation (at least, none that I can come up with), especially since the only TECs implementable under A) air cooling limitations and B) power supply limitations would be too weak to break even cooling-wise on the GPU (and thermal runaway is a very ugly thing), I can't really think of just how a TEC in there is assisting in cooling in any way. TECs are so grossly inefficient and not particularly great for cooling in the first place, I don't see how a TEC in there anywhere would make it a better cooling solution than removing the TEC and putting that monster heatsink to work straight on the GPU.
TEC doesn't come CLOSE to rivalling phase-change, unless it's done exactly correctly, in which case it matches a mediocre to average phase setup. As for rivalling liquid cooling, thats not really fair, considering that liquid cooling is pretty much an essential to any halfway-decent TEC setup. Simply by their nature, TECs are virtually impossible to use effectively under air cooling. more on this in the wiki
