Looks like that the main problem for my overclocking was the HTT clock, after lovering it down from 4x to 3x it was possible go higher with FSB w/o much problems.

The Opty of mine however need voltage bump to get there. I used 1.450 + 0.20V (1.650Vcore, as with old AXP) to get it Prime stable. However it looks like I not getting under 28,3sec for 1M SuperPi.

All the fun ended up when I accidentialy select Vcore bump to 0.60V. The Sapphire A9RX480 Grouper posted well, but instead of boot, there is just flashing prompt line, no C: before it, just the line. And it never booted again. Looks like 2V is able to kill Opteron 148 very easily... :(

My fault, tough.

Anyone got any experiences of near 2V Opteron using? Mine was not "naked", yet watercooled. It posted, tough... :banghead:

No experiences with the Opteron personally, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 2V is pushing it for a Sck939.

If it posted, then the CPU might be alright. You've tried taking it back down from the voltage and overclock, right? I'd expect it to start up again if you lower it back down.

The flashing prompt you're talking about.. After that, you're usually done with the BIOS and on to finding a bootloader. Maybe it's just too unstable to boot windows?

Go as high as the mobo lets you.

You need very good cooling now,, as higher voltage will make temps go up, but becomes stable,,

have good cooling and bump that up,

2V is way over the limit... fine for phase change testing, but not for everyday use...

I wouldn't give it more than 1.8 for everyday use on good water or TEC or Phase setup...

xvi - you re right. 2.0V might work on s939 with intense phasecooling on naked die -but clearly not naked and only passively watercooled chip lifetime is in like - seconds
And I tried reset bios and stuff, but it never posted again. I have only two s939 mobos, both same. I test that in other one soon, but ATM I think the chip is done for... Sadly :p

tweakboy - as you can see, going as high as the mobo allow me is not exactly good sometimes. The mobo allow me basic like 1.400, 1.425 and 1.450 and then add up to +0.60 Vcore to the chip. It kill it almost instantly. It only posted, and then never again... :banghead:

D_o_S - your statement sounds about right for me. In aircooling and not naked maybe stay bellow 1.650V for sure. 1.80V might not end up well on mediocre cooling. Clearly it will fry the CPU is the heatsink is badly seated...
