Although all the rumour, AMD plans to release the Radeon X1950GT graphics card. However, AMD recently added a restriction to the release, saying that certain partners within certain area would only be supplied to sell the cards, whatever that means? The new X1950GT(RV570LE) model, has a very similar specifications to the PRO edition. The lowered core speed from 575MHz to 500MHz and memory speed from 1.38GHz do 1.2GHz DDR are the main differences from the PRO version. In addition, the "Video In" support in Rage Theater has been removed. Early samples are already manufactured, but the final version of the cards is scheduled for early February 2007.

It will be interesting to see this cards price point. You can already get X1800GTOs for £100 (see eBuyer) and X1950PROs for £130ish.

It ought to seriously take on the 7600GT and 7900GS if they price it properly.

AGP versions FTW! ;)

Hmm I really wouldnt be able to justify the cost of this card.
I mean in the US there is already the X1950PRO which can be had for $199 and even lower.
Then we have the X1800GTO which can be had for $130.
We also have the X1900GT for $160.
So I dont see anywhere where this could justify the cost unless they make it cheaper than the X1900GT.

Stop giving us these crap cards and give us R600 already

Agreed but the X1950 PRO is a little more expensive than those, which is why the X1950GTs price will determine is worth. If it comes in at 7600GT prices Nvidia will have to pull a 8600 DX10 budget/midrange card out the hat pretty damn quickly to compete.

Not quite sure where you get the "whoop asses" with regard to the 7900GS, yes the 1950pro is a bit faster at stock and now a bit more exspensive but it is generally recognised that the 7900GS overclocks better and therefore if your an overclocker the 7900GS will beat the 1950Pro, in fact some might say the 7900GS "whoops" the 1950Pro's arse!

Ha ha if ATI is seriously planning on releasing a DX9 card after the release of Vista with DX10, someone over there needs to redraw the market plan. G84 (NVIDIA midrange or entry level) will totally tromp this thing, and have all the DX10 we need. As it's been said before, enough with these crap cards, give us DX10!

Rumor is anything, if they released this theyd have to decrease the price of the 1650XT..but then that would help it compete with the 7600GT more and then the 1950GT could take its spot....and if it has a 80nm design it would probably clock to 1950pro speed and more.

Why is everyone clamouring about DX10 hardware? When there is zero software.

I agree with that statement. Enough with the midrange cards, they have too many as it is. Get on with the R600.

Why is everyone clamouring about DX10 hardware? When there is zero software.

I guess it depends on your upgrade preference - some people will buy a high end card and plan on keeping it for a few years so they want to get the most out of it, whereas other like to be at the cutting edge and update more frequently.

Me? I prefer to get a bit more value out of my bits so tend to buy mid-range and replace every 12-18 months.

Hmmm - my X850 PRO must be about due to go, now where was that X1950 PRO 512MB link ;)

Erm, i thought ATi tool didnt support the X1950 PRO ...so one would think that the X1950 PRO will get a much higher OC wen ATi tool does support it

And yes...BRING OUT THE R600 :D!

Fair point but you cannot do a review on what might happen in the future! As it stands now the 7900GS is the more ovrclockable card, and you will note I only said faster.....not better, I think the 1950Pro is the better package with the better features but TBH it aint no faster than my 1800XT so i never really knew what all the fuss was about a few weeks ago on its release  Like some have already said, its just another mid ranged card......albeit a damn good one.

Yep, agreed 100% :)

Just with the X1950PRO and X1800XT...doesnt the 1950 have 36 shaders as opposed to 16 from the X1800XT?...or is that just me

I just found it weird that a review site would use software that is incompatible :p

I wonder how this X1950GT will OC...
