It's going to be the same engine as all the other games...... I think they need to upgrade especially if they are planning to compete with Battlefield 3 / Frostbite 2.

They are banking of the console audience and a new engine isn't going to do much for that market.

True, that makes more sense. I'll keep hoping DICE sticks to their word about PC gaming then. :toast:

It's basically MW2 with a new Single-Player, which is the part most people ignored anyway. The problem is that they are still using the same engine that IW developed back in the day for CoD4, and with IW having spent a year losing and adding staff members left and right, I guarentee this won't even be as well done as Black Ops (which was noticably more buggy than MW2). The Engine doesn't necessarily make the game, but it sure helps sell the game when you can brag about extra features. Frostbite is looking pretty damn impressive, and I guarentee when people start comparing the two around launch time, BF3 will take a massive bite out of the CoD fanbase.

I refuse to buy another CoD Game. With the original IW guys gone (the ones that forced Activision to allow them to even make a Modern FPS) it seems pointless to even bother. Infinity Ward was Call of Duty. With a completely different staff this has no become the new Guitar Hero. Prepare for Market Saturation to take effect and people to stop buying the game since there are now 3-4 studios working on CoD games at any given point (Raven, Sledgehammer, Treyarch, IW2.0). I can't wait for BF3 to murder this pile of crap.

I still think the first CoD&UO expansion had the best single player out of the whole franchise. MW1 was very very good and i really enjoyed it but CoD1 is still better IMO. back in the days when InfinityWard wasnt a greedy money whore corrupted by the orgasims of 'Leet' console junkies.

May i be sniped by a Barret 50.cal in both knee caps before i even think about going into the shop to buy this poor excuse for a CoD game. Im not going to be fooled.

Either give us PC games worth playing (like you used to) or leave the market with your tail between your legs like EPIC GAMES and get in the sack with the guys who send your game to the top of the charts with 2 analogue sticks and 4 colored buttons.

I miss the days of actual expansion packs, this crappy $10/15 DLC crap has got to make its way out...

True, the worst thing is that the maps where already made at the release of the full game... already thinking about it makes me sick.

Again showing that Dice is the best. 12$ for 4 maps, new weapons for each class, new vehicles and new skins 3$ dollars less for atleast 2x times more.

Or when they re-skin old old maps and put it into a DLC map pack and charge you for them. My friend paid £5 for a MW2 map pack. and at least 3 or 4 of those maps were re-skinned maps from the first CoD/UO expansion.

and that is total BullSh*t! you're paying for content that you have already payed for once before. so what if they re-skin it to look more modern, add a few more camping spots and give it a different name? it still doesnt change the fact that the devs put almost ZERO effort into making the game more enjoyable and original and this is evident in all CoD games since the dawn of MW2.

If they gave players SDKs and allowed the community to make their own mods, maps , weapons and other stuff again. THAT alone could tip the scale in theirs/the games favour. but no, they decided against it. so the community becomes stuck in the mud and force fed what devs want to give us and not what the community wants to give each other.

MW3 will be no different.

I would go for BF3. If Dice supports BF3 like they did with BC2 it is instant win.

Support? I didn't see any new updates for BFBC2 (aside from the paid DLC). Limited vehicles, limited maps, weapons that all act the same (and have poor animations, textures, and 3D models which are completely wrong). Not a whole lot of content in the game.

No mod support whatsoever. At the least I would have hoped for some custom maps and some 3D models to replace the awful ones that come with the game.

It wasn't a bad game overall, the $12 I paid for it made it worthwhile. $20? That is a bit pricey.

Get Red Orchestra 2 instead. More innovative features, free content updates in the form of vehicles and maps post release, mod support, they are officially backing a large mod, and it is cheaper.

Get BF3 when it is cheap, or get it in addition. Wait until MW3 is $10 or less, or skip it altogether.

BC2 for the PC got all the DLC for free, ran dedicated servers, and was patched frequently enough to fix all major issues. Compare that to the last couple CoD games on the PC, and it's basically perfect. Sure, there wasn't full Mod Support, but at this point almost no games come with that. :/

Hmm don't want to be a d*ck here but if you really think BFBC2 is such that bad, I wonder how COD fares in your scale of things. Dice supported the game pretty well I think, they even tried countless times to please most of the community, since every time people where moaning bout "eh nerf this" and when they obliged, fanboys of said weapon/vehicle bitched "eh why nerf that, nerf this one now" It was becoming a joke in the end but you can't say they didn't support the game. People who got bored got the Vietnam addon which was cheap and good too, even though I prefer Vanilla. I understand they have to move on to other things (BF3) since the game is more than a year old. Compare this to COD games where support is pretty much gone after a couple of months albeit for $15 for 4 maps (which again I got for free in BC2).

Compare this to the problems CODBO got in the beginning where it was mostly unplayable... Also the fact that you mostly just run around in circles around a map and shoot the crap out of anyone without any tactical justification. Plus the vehicles are just a joke (rc cars?) you almost don't have the "real" control of them. I'd take your cheap BC2 any day of the week. I paid $20 bucks for it and I still don't regret it. Compare that to the $35 I paid for BO (which tbh has more dated visuals et al) So its not fair to say that BC2 doesn't have a lot of content. Tired of fragging? Get in a tank. Bored of tanks? Try to master the choppers. Tired of running and driving? put on your bush-wookie suit and camp and snipe poor runners off from a distance. I certainly feel its a better rounding game. Its one of the rare games where you can be last in the frag table but still help your team win whereas in other games, you are just cannon-fodder.

CoD is extremely awful. The SP is decent, but after 2 or so hours into it I just can't wait for it to end. The MP is non-existent.

As for the "balance" in BFBC2, they could start by making the M1911A1 less accurate. It is more accurate than most of the rifles in the game. Honestly, they didn't put much of any effort into the game. It shows in the ugly 3D models, the fact that both teams are exactly the same (except for vehicles), other weird bugs/design decisions such as an RPG-7 magically turning into an AT4 when a player equips it (the world model), the lack of maps, and the awful story in the SP.

If an excellent game by your standards is one that simply works, then that is great. :) For me I demand games that work + had some effort, thought, and research put into them.

As I said, I got my $12 out of the game. I am pleased with what it is. I'll probably get BF3 when it goes down to a similar price.

Also, how do I disable auto subscriptions for threads in which I post?

Ok thanks for clearing that out, cause I originally thought you were one of the COD fanboys having a cheap dig at BC2.

Yeah reality in games is pretty much non existant, its mostly "hell we put X tank here, put X gun there, create a battle at landmark X" and it will look cool for almost everyone (I remember a thread some days ago that talked about swords and other stuff) but thats a topic for another debate. :)

And to unsuscribe from this thread, easiest way would be to do it from the mail that notifies you. You'll see right down 2 options, unsuscribe from this thread and all of your suscribed threads.

Ok thanks for clearing that out, cause I originally thought you were one of the COD fanboys having a cheap dig at BC2.

...

And to unsuscribe from this thread, easiest way would be to do it from the mail that notifies you. You'll see right down 2 options, unsuscribe from this thread and all of your suscribed threads.

BC2 is far better than MW1&2 online. Those games are unbearable for me... especially MW2 with the "host has left the game, wait for another host to be assigned" issue. They're not even in the same league. I even preferred the SP gameplay over CoDs.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that, but it keeps auto subscribing me to each new thread I post in? I'm browning in the User CP but I don't see to find an option to disable it?

User CP -> Edit Options -> Default Thread Subscription Mode. I set mine to no email notification. That way, when I click on User CP all the threads I posted in that got responses show up, but I don't get any email notifications about them at all.

You may have to unsubscribe then resubscribe to completely kill email notification. I can't remember if it's this forum I saw that happen on or not though.
