Need help with upgrading a PC asap.

Hello, I am pretty new to modifying computers and asking around some questions before I make a costly mistake.

My current system is a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-257c-b which is a factory manufactured Pc meant to be a descent gaming pc. I desperatly want to upgrade it, and in order to do that I first need to get rid of the crap 350W powersupply and Radeon HD 5570 graphics card.

I am having difficulty finding any info about the motherboard of this pc. I know it is a PCI but will it work with this card
MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Also with HP powersupply I have read a couple of articles that not all powersupplys will work with them so I am trying to determine if the one I picked will work with it.

What's your CPU and RAM like?
Also, your Motherboard has a x16 PCI-Express 2.0 slot?

Great choice on PSU - it's perfect!

Instead of a 5770, have you considered the 6790? Or even a 6870?

You can get a 6790 for around $150, and a 6870 for around $200.
But if you're on a budget, definitely go for the 6790.

It has 8 gig of ram and it is a PCIx16 slot on the mother board. Also I do need to change out the graphics card because I am having issues playing the newest games such as Brink and Witcher 2 the frame rate is terrible.

Brink's framerate issues have nothing to do with your video card.

Yes, the MSI 5770 will definitely work.

All you need is that Corsair PSU that you listed, and you're good to go!

And I assume you're using a quad-core CPU?

with other words, first define and analyse the complaint before casting new hardware into the pc.

A 6790 is faster and is around the same price.

You're still better off with a 6790.

well I the problem is I have to choose a card that is 9 in or smaller so anything over wont fit.

Instead of the 5770, check out the 6790. They're faster and generally about the same price as regular 5770s, and probably cheaper considering the one you picked out is an MSI Hawk series.

Are you guys sure he can put in any standard PSU in there? Last time I checked, which was arguably a number of years ago, HP, Dell, and others use their own design of PSU, mobo form factor, etc. meaning that they aren't standard. The connectors aren't, and the form factors either.

Some do and some dont. The 650TX is longer then most but may work

you should buy the new sapphire 5850 extreme or if u cant afford that then the 5830 extreme. my friend just got the 5850 extreme and he is getting around 100 - 120 fps in battlefield bad company 2 in max settings but in 1280x1024 with 4xaa and 16af but for the money £125 or the 5830 extreme which is £83 at ebuyer and only a little slower is amazing.
