Overclocking the i965 past the 4.1Ghz is it feasible?

Hi all,

my system is watercooled with the EVGA x58 classified E760 with the CPU i965(bought it when it was released).

I have achieved a stable overclock at 4,08 with a multiplier of 30 and a bus speed(QPI of 136 mhz).

i have tried to break the limit and reach 4.2 but to no avail.

is it possible to reach 4.2ghz? has anybody achieved a stable one with the i965 at those speeds?

my VCore is at 1,3625. i can post more details if you need.

Sure it's possible. It depends on your particular CPU. If you're willing to add more voltage to make things stable, maybe it will work. It's up to you!!

Sure it is, I had a 920 get up to 4.2Ghz on an Evga X58 board. Followed the sticky guide:

Try turning HT off, raise the mult and keep your bclk in check with your memory, oh and raise voltages as needed.

i have a steady overclock at 137 Mhz with a multiplier of 30!

stable at 4120... i am satisfied.

with better watercooling you could probably get more out of it, and motherboard cooling would help to (your specs dont say if your NB is cooled as well). there are users that had those up to almost 4.5 or even more in some cases on good watercooling.
