Working pretty well on stock desire z with (2.2) aside from the top saying
"menu menu menu menu menu menu menu menu menu menu menu menu"

Kinda messes up the formatting XD

Works on iphone 4. Load time is a bit high though. Almost as fast just to load the normal site here.

27 kb pagesize .. wont get much smaller than that.

the speed difference is bigger on weaker devices

Appears to be mostly functional on Blackberry v4.6

The menu button could afford to be moved over to the right more as the BB one is pretty big and overlaps the logo a bit. Also, once the menu opens, clicking the X doesn't really do anything, which means you have to reload the page to get rid of it or click through one of the links.

4.6 = old. some minor problems are acceptable.

it all works well here (iphone 4 + android 2.1)

now we just need the forums to work a little better in a mobile version

Older or previous days as a down arrow athe the bottom of the page.

The layout looks good from my milestone in any orientation, and even downclocked like it is now with a almost dead battery its still fast.

Suggest adding a browser aware js script to the site to redirect users to it.
Perhaps a icon sizing choice as some with small screens may want small or none.

yes, the menu links to full pages because i havent mobilified them (yet).

depending on how much traffic a section gets i will add mobile styles. right now almost all mobile users go to the news only

i tried using the forums on my devices, and its slow - loading avatars + jpegs really screws the load times over per page.

is it possible to make an interface that hides images until you click on the placeholder? (at least for the forums)

oh, on my android device with that menu - the 'touch' buttons for forums and case mod dont quite line up with the text... i dont get this problem with the other links.

added redirect from frontpage if mobile device is detected (might not work for uncommon mobile devices)
added cookie based "disable mobile interface" option
moved "full version" link to footer

New menu icon works great. Menu actually opens and closes properly without any delay either.

Yeah, I know 4.6 is old. It's a work phone and they refuse to update the BES to a newer version as it'd cull out a bunch of the even older phones in the environment. I thought it would be one of the older things possibly using the mobile site which would help lock down any outstanding issues for them newer fancier OS'es. :rockout:

probably not soon

vbulletin 4.x upgrade is in the pipeline somewhere, too. not sure about the plan yet

after a while i'll take a look at the /mobile logs and see if all the work turned into some additional traffic from mobile devices

I think we need to do a bit more advertising for the new mobile site otherwise people will just keep on browsing the other more phone-friendly sites. Maybe a short news post on the frontpage and a poll to see how much people appreciate it?
