Quick facts:
I'm looking to upgrade a lot of my computer, all the main bits.
I'm not replacing HDDs, DVD Drive, Case or PSU at the moment.
So I'm looking to buy:
Motherboard
RAM
CPU
Maybe a new GPU.
I am in the UK!
Budget: £400 - £500 ish, depending on if I get a new graphics card as well.
More detail:
I don't have much time for games these days, but do want to have the option available, so it's got to be capable of more than web browsing.
I would like to upgrade my monitor in the near future. When I do, it will be a 1920 x 1080 monitor, so if I do get talked in to getting a new graphics card, this will need to be taken in to account.
On the subject of graphics cards, I hate loud ones. My 3870 was too loud, so I got an Arctic Cooling Acellero 1 Rev.2 Cooler for it. I'm happy enough to buy a new cooler if this one one fit/can't be reused for whatever reason, but I am a little aprehensive about the card breaking and me not being able to send it back.
I am very much out of the loop on hardware these days and don't have much free time to research it all again.
I'm not much of an overclocker, I've dabbled in the past on both CPU and GPU, but I've never kept anything overclocked. To be honest, these days I wouldn't really know where to start anymore.
Main reasons for upgrading are things like, wanting to be able to play games on high settings on a bigger monitor eventually. Almost every HDD I buy seems to fail very quickly, I am starting to think it's not the HDDs themselves at fault, probably something to do with the rest of my computer. And I suppose I want nice shiney new toys to play with too.
