Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, has strengthened the X Mark I series of products today with the launch of two new desktop business accessories, the X Mark I Mouse Lite and the X Mark I Keypad. Designed with input from Canon's Camera design team, these sleek and stylish products are the ideal extension to a laptop's standard keyboard, helping to improve overall work efficiency for business professionals working remotely.

"The addition of the X Mark I Keypad and X Mark I Mouse Lite marks Canon's entry into a new product category," said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies and Communications Group, Canon U.S.A. "Canon recognizes that business professionals are always on the search for tools that help improve work efficiency and we feel these new products will certainly accomplish this task."

The three-in-one Canon X Mark I Mouse Lite combines the functionality of a laser mouse in addition to a keypad and 10-digit calculator making it ideal for the traveling business professional along with anyone interested in minimizing the number of accessories in a workspace. Available in either black or white, the X Mark I Mouse Lite is compatible with Windows PC or Mac laptops, has three mouse buttons and Bluetooth 2.01 connectivity. In addition, this new mouse has a low battery indicator to avoid running out of power unexpectedly.

Designed for the on-the-go business professional, the Canon X Mark I Keypad provides users with a two-in-one keypad in addition to a 10-digit Semi-Desktop Calculator that can be easily paired with either a Windows PC or Mac laptop through Bluetooth 2.01. Powered by solar and AAA batteries, the X Mark I Keypad is available in black or white.

The Canon X Mark I Mouse Lite will have an estimated selling price of $59.99 and is expected to become available in August while the Canon X Mark I Keypad will have an estimated selling price of $59.99 and is expected to ship in September.

If by 'business professionals' they mean 'retards and comparably handicapped coffee lounge attention whores who have enough money to buy a calculator they do not need, but do want, because they are weak and undisciplined citizens who should be ashamed of themselves for not knowing how to use a computer's built-in calculator to 'write their book'', as it were.

It's not just a calculator, it's a bluetooth NUM pad. For notebooks and desktop keyboards that lack it.

But what about ergonomy? If you molest a mouse eight or nine hours a day, it better be damn comfortable. Doesn't say anything about that, nor does it look very comfortable.

I think its designers assumed that most people use the "claw" mouse grip.

Terrible idea. Those mice are going to get so nasty with sweat, dirt from hands, and dead skin...just gonna be gross. Not to mention that every OS comes with a calculator built in. Even phones. Now if you are going for the keypad approach for laptops without the pad, or Mac users, that works. But still...gonna turn nasty in time. The other keypad they have there is much more useful for that.

I do (probably most people do unknowningly), unless I have to hold left mouse-down and click right-mouse.

The mouse looks too flat and long. I doubt I'd like it at all.

i tried it for a sec, just felt weird. I always have my index finger on the left button and middle on the right button. My mousing skills have lower latency than yours!

Hello Captain. I haven't noticed you on the forum before, so please accept my belated welcome albeit 9 months late. Healthy cynicism is welcome. This product is about as useful as a calculator-air-freshener accessory in a 4x4 pickup. Yes, it has function. No, it is a stupid accessory.

Canon, fail. You have just diluted your brand franchise value. I was on the fence between buying a Canon printer and an HP printer. With this nonsense product you are marketing, it has helped me decide on the HP printer. I was also thinking about getting a Canon DSLR. But now I will go with a Nikon. I don't want a calculator on my DSLR just like I dont want a calculator on my 4x4 pickup or my mouse or my camera. Thank you.

Nah, doesn't work after awhile. My MX518 just gets worse due to the glossy top. For some reason it attracts stuff better than my older MX500. Even the sides of it where the thumb rest is, is now worn smooth by the fingers. My MX500 with the same basic feel doesn't have this either.

My MX518 has the worn areas around he thumb and pinky finger.
All the black has worn off the Logitech emblem too.
But then I have had this mouse for years.

I also need to clean out the scroll wheel as it is hard to scroll in the mornings.:D

As for the calcumouse, I'm sure it has it's market.
The gimmick people.
There are many consumers out there who will immediately buy something if it is looked at as cool by other gimmick people.
It would be more useful if there is a calculator button lock somewhere on the mouse.
