Just two months ago I managed to finally upgrade my GPU!!..I upgraded to a nVidia card, after so many years of having ATi (last nVidia card I had was a...Geforce 4 MX!! ) Before I installed the card, I uninstalled the AMD driver with the Catalyst uninstall utility, then I run CCleaner and finally I rebooted in safe mode and run Driver Sweeper to minimize any potential problems...the 560 installed just fine, but I 'm having a weird issue : The card , though its O.C. utility , Expert Tool, has two "modes" : "Safe mode" and "Enhanced". Safe mode has the reference nVidia clocks (822MHz Core, 2004MHz RAM and 1644MHz shader.) Enchanced mode has 900MHz on the core, 2100 memory and 1800 shader. My problem is that the card crashes in some games when it is in "Enhanced" mode, namely Crysis, Heroes fo Might & Magic V, Alice Madness Returns and Crysis 2 (only in Crysis 2's DX 11 mode and high res textures! DX9 s fine.) Crysis 1 crashes only when I reload a quick save ,and Alice just crashed randomly. Heroes stutters a lot in battles, and when I alt-tab it says my nVidia driver crashed and has successfully recovered. All games crash to desktop, and when I open task manager it says that the game executable has stopped responding (the same happens for all said games when they crash). All games are fully patched, as is windows. The graphics card never exceeds 81 degrees Celcius ,and in the manual it says it shouldn't exceed 105, so I 'm safe I guess, although I 've never had such a hot card! Now, when the card is in "Safe mode" , the games NEVER crash!! That logically points me to the conclusion that my card can't go above reference clocks, but I 've read that almost ANY 560 Ti can go 950MHz on the core!! And what's more, the OC isn't mine, it's from the factory! So I was thinking that my card is faulty but yesterday I discovered something else! All the problems I 've had were with the 275.33 drivers and gainward expert tool 7.20. Well, yesterday I installed 280.26 drivers and 7.21 Expert Tool and guess what...the crashing stopped when the card is in Enhanced mode! Crysis 2 only freezes every 6-7 minutes or so randomly for about 5 seconds, but I can live with that.
So, can you please tell me what the heck is going on..???!!! I 've sent an email to Gainward support but I received no answer.
