Bricked it. Really, really, really need a good copy of the stock BIOS on the non-reference, Sapphire HD5850 100282-3SR model. Can pay in massive thanks, hugs, helping on math homework, or even ten bucks.

Yupp. Went through all of them that could possibly work based on their (lack of) label. No luck.

But it anyone knows for sure of any of those that *ought to* work, I'd try it again.

Hang in there, someone will be by and will probably be able to tell you.
Sorry, can't be of to much help on this.
I never had a 5800 series, I went from 4800 series to the 6900 series.

Goodluck.:)

I got a Sapphire 5850 Toxic 2Gb (non-ref), but a quick search says yours is 1Gb, is that correct?

Is it a stock 725mhz non reference model, can you link the exact card at Sapphire's site so I can take a look? Normally with Sapphire, if you e mail them they will send you the Bios, well they did for me a couple of years back when I bricked my 4890 Toxic.

Sapphire have changed...

If youre a noob and the cooler is blocked full of dust, they'd tell you to RMA it instead of giving it a good go with an air duster.

I think I can help you, as I have two 5850s, one reference and one non-reference, both from Sapphire.

I'll need your assistance figuring out whether it's this 100282-3SR model you speak of. Where do I need to look to confirm the model #? The box/barcode area? Running the BIOS through Radeon BIOS Editor?

For a quick visual, this is my non-reference sapphire card.

Reply and help me help you.

It should either say it on the side of the box somewhere with the rest of the partnumbers and other details or on the back of the card where you find the serial number

Ok, looking at the box and I don't see anything in a 123456-7AB format.

Would it be SKU#? That's the closest I've got @ "11162-00-51R".

Yep.

well.... you could have cards that are IDENTICAL but have different sku# numbers. And i think thats what got us into this mess in the first place. as the bios's differ from each sku despite the card being exactly identical.

Cards seem to be different revisions. but catalyst's card is bricked anyway so it doesnt matter if you upload it and let him flash it with your one.

It might even fix the problem.

Well, here's a bunch of links to my card including sapphire's website:

FierceRed, I strongly believe that we have the same card. While yours has some different art, the fan and cooler are the same, and the PCBs are both blue which is pretty important. The reason I think so is because I don't see your card with a unique page on sapphire's website, so I think yours is just a special edition of mine that came with some neat COD stuff and some COD art on the cooler.

Sooo could I have your BIOS please? :) Also, as FreedomEclipse kindly points out, i couldn't hurt to try since it's bricked anyway.

I had 2 of the same cards. they looked identical but the sku's were different, and the same bios wouldnt work for one of the other cards.

so its a 50/50 chance it might work.

Sure, here you go.

It's zipped cause when I tried to attach as a .bin, the forum code complained. Its named new5850pure because its "new" relative to my reference "old" card which I purchased first and "pure" denotes its un-modified.

Also, I can barely be said to overclock that much, and even I know that I have to backup my card BIOS before I fuck with it. Seeing as how the technique is maybe 3 mouse clicks and 9 seconds long using RBE, I hope you've learned your lesson regarding the proper process to use when overclocking your GPUs. Many learn the lesson the hard way and pay for their education with an unscheduled dip in their wallet. You are fortunate that this blunder (maybe?) has a happy -and free- ending. Don't make the further blunder of not appreciating the bullet you've dodged and discarding the wisdom it contained in its armor-piercing tip.

Forgive the finger wagging in your face, but you interrupted my Deus Ex session, (A heinous offense, make no mistake!) and I'm only looking out for your future tweaking efforts. Good luck and happy restoration!

AND BACKUP YOUR BIOS NEXT TIME. :nutkick:
