The NB voltage was at 1.60.

I may be wrong but you should be changing CPU-NB (if going by my setup).

I suspect CPU is the culprit here.

IMC is the integrated memory controller,or the processors integrated northbridge(cpu-nb)
I try to stay away from confusion so if the IMC and mobo NB voltage increases are mentioned,
then one wont be increasing the mobo nb voltage thinking its the IMC/cpu-nb

As you say it did used to work and now doesn't (wether thats at the settings you put in,or in general)
too much voltage can damage the IMC.

When you say 2 memory types, could you do a cpu-z of one of the pairs and the other?
what happens if you have one of one pair and one of the other pair installed ,just 4gb of course but do the timings and voltages match in the SPD?

so one has failed,i guess it would be sensible to run the other 3 to be sure whats good and what isnt.

Not sure, still doing the memtest. Although it says 1pass, 193errors.. Looking bad
Yes, the memory works like that, but only in the first2 slots.
Also error is 375 still 1 pass. So I am going to try another memory module now.. And then the othet slot.

I tried another memory module, 0pass 0error.. Well.. No error is always good!!
Not much info to give on that one though.
Testing the other memory types now.

Might sound pretty simple but easily overlooked --

Are all four sticks the same brand and latency?

I once bought 2 x 2GB Corsairs (having already 2 x 2GB Apacers).
My desktop would work only if I put either only the Corsairs or only the Apacers... and never with them all inside. Even though I spent ages in the bios trying to ensure they all have the same settings. (There's a chance I was doing it wrong myself, but it's a known issue that certain motherboards don't like different RAM inside them).

Memtest is almost done, all memory modules works fine, except the first one which gave me a ton of errors. Im going to double check that one.
I just don't understand, you say latancy have to match, but it worked for almost a year?? Can it change at times?

Sorry I missed out that part in your OP where you said it used to work with all 8GB before.
Since one of them gave you a lot of errors as you say, I'm pretty sure that's the problem.
Does your pc work with 6GB (leaving out the faulty module?)

Im about to test that, sure hope it does!
No, it does not work.. Maybe it only works with 2, or 4 memory modules?

try upping your IMC(cpu-nb) voltage to 1.3 and see how it goes,it shouldnt really add any heat to the processor.

I tried turning up the NB volt to 1.3. But still black screen when I put in more than 4GB :(

It sounds like a bad stick of ram man. Anyway what Mhz are your running them at. DDR2 has issues going over 800MHz when running more then two sticks. Its just to much strain on the IMC. If you are trying to run higher then that it could be an issue.

With that being said I still think its bad RAM.

So it could be two bad memory sticks? Memtest only gave me error on 1 of them.
Also I am using DDR3 memory.
What if its not the mobo, nor ram? Can it be the CPU?
Since only 1 memory stick got errors, perhaps the other works. Will it work with 3 memory modules? Or is it only working with two, or four?

I've run 3 sticks on my mobo,it wouldnt overclock for isht but it ran fine at stock with the timings of the weakest stick.
Maybe it varies from motherboard to motherboard,i'd consider a different mobo or setting the timings to slack as poss and divider right down with 2 sticks in then work it back up with 3 sticks in.

i've had countless issues with ram,but it s always overclocking it thats caused problems,if sticks are bad i tend to expect the mobo to give me a beep error.

Also a easier solution is to send those sticks back for a refund and get 2x4gb

I used asus M4A89GTD PRO before, upgraded to Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3.. It is not the motherboard.
Most likely CPU or RAM related. Im just unsure which of them.

Im not sure my warrently is still there. The ram aren't super expensive. So I don't think the warrently is for more than a year max.

Which brand? Most brands have a pretty long lasting warranty.
