slow internet

hi all i got a 20mb line with virgin just changed my mobo and cpu and ram and now have windows 7 but my internet is slow when im connected to my router but if i take the cable out of my network port on the mobo and put my internet connection in to my mobo (no router being used) its fast as hell again.

any idears? ive updated the mobo netword driver but still no joy.

Try a different router maybe. thats what seems to be the problem.... maybe disable QoS?

it seems pretty obvious based on your account that the router is the issue.

try a reset, but more likely you'll have to get it replaced.

Try a different cable between router and MB connector.
Reset the router.
Un-install the device and drivers through device manager in windows re-boot, then install the drivers again.
Check the routers firewall, QOS, etc. settings for bottlenecks.
Try a different router, if, you have one or can borrow one.
Turn off any A/V and firewall software and try it.

Just some ideas.:)

Edit: Slyfox beat me to the different router and QOS.:)

its brand new only got it about 2 weeks ago!

I got a new MB last month, it was defective out of the box. Just saying, it could be a possibility.
Try doing a factory reset.

Edit: What motherboard did you get, you said new, so, I am assuming the one in your specs is wrong, now.

Edit Edit: Sorta confusing post, sorry... I was relating my MB story to show something out of the box might not be right; however, I meant a factory reset on the router in the second sentence.:ohwell:

However, glad savillm got it fixed.:)

remember, it works fine plugged into the motherboard. it's only through the router that it has issues.

i don't see how resetting the motherboard is the first step.

all sorted now i did a firmware update
