should i decrease north bridge voltage, too?

i dont think that would help too much, just try and fiddle around with it and see what you can get, best bet is core and FSB voltages
is AMD cool and quiet on?
i honestly dont think your Temps are too bad, maybe idle is a little high but load temps are ok, can you post a pic of your case please so we can see the airflow?

good luck man, post back your findings

Temps should not go up when getting a better cooler. You did clean the old paste from the cpu, right? Used rubbing alcohol or something similar? Maybe take a closer look at the base of your Mugen, maybe you got a really really bad base.

the temperature didnt rise after putting in the new cooler... it just didn't really sink that much either (about ~5°C).

I've just opened my pc again, cleaned everything (cpu and cooler base) with alcohol, put new paste on the cpu and put it back together. Then I've set CPU and NB voltage to 1.25 (via BIOS).

The temperature is now between 55 and 60 (idle) - haven't tested gaming yet. Think I will try going lower and lower with the CPU voltage (thanks for this hint guys)!

Also I want to increase the "thermal throttle" function in BIOS...

But again some questions:
1. Do I have to decrease NB voltage, too when I'm decreasing CPU voltage?
2. Is there a specific (or a save/good) proportion between these 2 voltages?
3. Theres a new BIOS update available.. should I install it and hope for some minor improvements (asrock homepage description about the update says: "Update CPU code.")?

EDIT:
just changed everything to:
CPU voltage: 1.225
NB voltage: 1.25
Thermal Throttle: 25%

My PC took a bit longer than usual to startup (after I've entered my user password, windows needed more time to start all the programs from autostart, the taskbar was invisible for some seconds and some of the desktop icons took about 10seconds to be loaded) - no significant changes in temperature though...

4. Should I try going even lower with the CPU voltage (<1.225)?
5. Should I keep NB voltage at the same level than CPU voltage?
6. Maybe decrease "frequency multiplier", to underclock my cpu ?

Something is not right if you are at between 55 and 60c (idle) at 1.25v. My 9850 maxed at about 62c at full load with a slight O/C.

What are you ambient temps? What do have your cpu fan speed running at? What tim are you using? Have you tried using a differenet temp program? If you touch the CPU cooler is it really hot?

Could it be that the temp reader on the cpu his damaged somehow?

Update your bios if there is an update cause you may need a new cpu anyways..:p and then run everything in the bios at default and see how that goes.

- ambient temperature isn't that high (can't tell exactly but It's my room and it's not really warm in here - guessing about 20°C)
- CPU fan speed ~1500RPM
- tim: "Nano Aluminium" "High-grade Thermal Compound" from prolimatech
- yes, all programs show the same temp (+/- 5°C)

that's what I thought, too - maybe the temp reader took some damage...

EDIT:
The CPU cooler feels very cold - I can't reach to it's bottom but pretty near to the point where cpu and cooler meet.

Also there are 2 different heat values for the CPU in speedfan: "cpu" and "core" - as far as I know the cpu indicates temperature outside of the cpu "box" and the core temp shows the temp within this "box", or the core-temp itself...
CPU temp is at 33°C - but
CORE temp is at 57-62°C (idle)

isn't it a bit strange that there's a difference of 20+°C within these few centimeters?

And is the cpu cooler really hot?

I'm not sure whether u know the cooler so heres a picture:

With my fingertip I can reach to the middle of the heatpipes and/or the small passive cooling part under the big tower. And there it still feels pretty damn cold...

Well if was running at between 55 and 60c you would feel hot so I'm going to say there is something damaged on either the mobo or the cpu. So as long as it's not crashing let it ride.

I just bought a new mobo one week aog (the old one "died" while playing team fortress 2 - I've enabled the "Multi-core rendering" option in the game and after some minutes I got a blue screen. After that the PC wouldn't start anymore - maybe the CPU took some damage there, too.

It's a possibility.. that's too bad. If you don't overclock and all you do is play games then I wouldn't buy a 6 core, especially a low clocked one. You can get another quad core with the highest clock that's affordable for you. ex/ Phenom II X4 955/965/970/980/etc. BE. The 980BE is stock clocked at 3.7Ghz, compared to your 2.5ghz Phenom now it's a big increase.

My 9950BE has been around 30-35 on idle (without C&Q) and 55-60 on 100% load (prime95). Your idle temp seems very weird.
