So much negative comments , someone would think that BF3 is another shitty console port, like all FPS games after Crysis were. It isnot the case. Finally someone made decent PC FPC, worth buying.

i'm not eating this "perfectionist" bullshit;they didn't know how to explain that something may be wrong...

if something is made be "perfectionist" don't need further work so their statement contradict itself from beginning...

A perfectionist is a person, not a thing. And being one doesn't mean you make everything perfect, it means you like everything to be perfect. Nothing is perfect, but striving for it is what patches are all about. Most PC games have day 1 patches these days, so I'm not sure what all the tears are for.

Very poor project management to release a game before it is debugged. If there is a patch on release day, there will be a Patch no.2 soon thereafter. Clearly rushed, and the whole development cycle has not ben well managed.

If their team was properly managed, then they would have pulled in extra resources 3-6 months ago to give manpower to hit the release deadline. If they only just found these bugs, then where did their Quality Assurance go? And the release should have been delayed a week or two until ready.

IMO it is a cover-up. In their opinion they were ready and finished before they thoroughly tested it. THEN a reviewer or beta tester found all sorts of bugs and compatibility issues. And in order to avoid bad press, they committed to fixing the worst bugs by patch on Day0. This is not a demonstration of perfectionism but cover my ass quick or get totalled. And you can bet that this patch does not cover all issues, just what they managed to get done my day0.

I am sorry, but clearly they are neither perfectionists nor professionals or they would have perfected their project management and development cycle and got this game ready and quality assured long ago. If they were perfectionist they would also have a better PR company and not tried to use this very naive moniker of "we are perfectionists". They are clear inexperienced and pretenders.

i really don't understand where are the tears...a perfectionist person usually tend to do his work perfect;a programmer can do this but the way they insinuate what they are and the result show exactly the opposite they are hypocrite not "perfectionists" but they can't admit this;all is just an excuse as lately all games are launched in a hurry unfinished&untested enough

It's on day 0, so it is basically included in the game on release day, except there will be a patch download. WHAT IS THE F@$#%^ DEAL? THEY ARE GETTING THE PATCH DONE ON TIME. Most companies have patches 2~4 weeks after launch instead, and until then, the game is buggy. BF3 decided they would do it on Day 1

I see no problem, they are fixing their game, and on time

Why complain guys??? At least its on day one. At least they know that a Patch is needed.

It's on day one. meaning right after you put your disc, before even having the chance to run the build in it, you will automatically download it as if its part of the original game, for digital buyers, its like there's no patch at all cause ITS DAY ONE PATCH.

Seriously, wait more days just to have this game patched up at the disc? for what. to save download bandwidth?? I'd rather have it now and then wait for the 25th for the patch.

Compare it to other games like Crysis 2, where the DX11 patch(which is the most important thing in the game, the series having a reputation in graphics) came 1000 years after its release, when I'm already done playing with it.

Just remember, games in the past may have less patches, less bugs, and "perfect" unpatched build. but they're far less complex and advanced compared to today's games like BF3. just look at the graphics, animations, sounds, effects.

sure, improvements in internet and content delivery can be a valid reason on why developers today release buggy rushed games. but IMO, BF3 is not rushed.

If they are rushing they could have just released BF3 right away and not release BCs at all.

BF3 has been in development ever since BF2 was released. yes there was the Bad Company series. but these already served as "test games" to prepare for BF3. the engine, destruction, graphics, animations that BF3 have were made from improvements from the Bad Company series.

Day 1 patches are fine with me...at least if it's not big mega patch like "BF3 patch 1.01 - 1.49Gb" WTF! :wtf:

the real turn off comes when even after the patch games still "feel buggy"...cus what you're really feeling should be quite similar to the tip of A BIG MARKETING/ADVERTISING D**K that is now at the entrance of your anus...and you have no clue what's gonna happen next; only thing you can do is "hope they keep their promises"

I reckon the first patch will come included in game itself, because origin seems has same content delivering system as steam, so no wonder that it will be quite comfy for users with digital copies. So it's not a problem.
But, patching a game doesn't even closely mean that the game will have bugs fixed. And everyone can admit it since EA has a trend/habit, to make a rush release of game, and only after a while, when there's a danger of the whole series stop to sell itself, they will halt other project to make some critical fixes. It's obvious, that poor DICE ppl are busy as hell, because they are now a cork in every hole of EA shitty management. They have to make a tone of other projects, and they have real butt-pain, because EA still continues to cut and fire other studios and specialists. And we could see it year ago, and since then nothing has been changed at all. You may laugh, and shout, but I'm sure that game will be bugged as hell. And all works optimization for PC will end with the release of game. Consoles will have more attention received, but still not enough to play the game without troubles.
What I told is not a bitching or whining. This is just statement of fact. BF3 could be great game, but it seems it will be only good one. Since all great tiles of EA and other companies, end in dust of doom and oblivion. Time will show, and I want to be wrong now.
P.S.: To those, who bought game or about to do it- let it will be pleasant for you.
P.S.: To those, who boycotting - let your efforts force companies to think twice.

Did I just read "DICE" and "perfectionist" in the same sentence? Because DICE's track record on "perfection" is shoddy at best.

If all previous Battlefield title releases are any indication of how well Battlefield 3's maiden voyage will be...get ready for a slew of headaches, odd and quirky bugs and dysfunctional features. Maybe this "Day 1" patch will set the record straight, but I've prepared myself for it.

First day patches are also a great way to protect your game from warez... ship it broken and release a downloadable patch on a release day. This way you make sure early leaked releases aren't what they're suppose to be.

Best to have a patch on Day 0 than to have to wait until day 7-14 for a decent patch to fix all of the crap....

As bad as i want to play this im just gonna wait every time a new game comes out it takes a month or two for things to stabilize and to work out all the server kinks.
Id rather wait a month save a few bucks maybe and not become infuriated with crashes, loosing stats, glitches, server disconnects, etc.

Especially for a DICE game.
