RAM unstable @ 1600Mhz

I just had a stick of RAM die on me so I sent it in to Gskill. Originally I had two sticks so I'm still using one of the original, and the new stick sent back from Gskill. Now whenever I set the frequency from 1333 to 1600 I'm getting system freezes. Ran memory diagnostics on Windows 7 without any errors reported. Using this RAM on this motherboard. I had no problems running at 1600 before this new stick.

you are mixing a 4GB kit with other ram?

You seem to make reference to using an old stick with a new stick?

Sorry for the jumbled mess. I'm just using a second stick of 2GB RAM. They are both the same model as in the OP.

You may need more voltage for 1600?
My ram at 1333 needs 1.5v but at 1600 needs 1.650v

You may have received a different speed/timing ram than what you have before?

Run Memtest86 with only one stick at the time to make sure which one if any is defective?

another possibility is that they may have send you back the same defective one you send , yeah! this thing appends always take a note of the serial # before sending any parts

The old RAM wasn't allowing my system to post at all so I'm assuming this is new RAM.

One concern I'm having is I'm getting different reading in CPUZ. Is this normal?

Make sure your voltage are right in the bios to make sure your not under\over voltage.

I have some Ripjaws 1600 CL9 2x4 1.5v with some HyperX 1333 CL7 running 1.65v all running perfectly at 1600 CL8 1.65v

So check voltages and CL and the order the sticks are in the mobo make sure each brand is in the same colour slot and f that fails try the other way around.

judging by those images, the ram sticks are slightly different. At least the SPD is.

Look at the JDEC settings for lower speeds. I assume you are actually setting 9-9-9-25 2T in bios?

According to those pics, you have two different speeds of RAM. There's your problem. The slower stick is not capable of 1600mhz at those timings and/or voltage.

The second stick, correct?

I'm totally confused because I don't know which stick is the old, and which is the new. Reading the actual specs on the RAM they are both labeled at 1600, and 9-9-9-24. Is there any way my original RAM lowered its own timings? Because I had these working at 1600 for almost nine months no problems.

I'll be contacting Gskill tomorrow so I can get this resolved.

ALWAYS RMA dual-channel memory with BOTH sticks. Looks to me like you have 2 different "generations" of the same product. It would be nice to have your system specs...... Try putting the RAM in 2 different channels and see what happens.

The second one does have a lower bar code number on it, and it was the one I was thinking was the older stick. I'll be RMAing this pretty soon, but I'm surprised it ran at 1600 for so long without issue.
