If you want reliable SSDs, go intel

If you have the money, go SLC as well

although current intel mlc flash have improved r/w cycles, they still brick themselves for no reason. mlc flash that is. regardless of controller.

if you want a completely reliable ssd, yup, slc ftw. slc owns, but its hard to find and costs too much per gb. thats why scsi&sas are still used in servers. bigger servers have moved up to i/o drives that cost thousands. i had to buy this p128 cause i couldnt find anything worthwhile at that time. my 500 giger died so i had to buy something quick.

yeah, its an older controller. theres this

HighPoint RocketRAID 2640X4 SGL PCI-Express x4 SAT...

windows should load up its drivers before readying itself to install. if it doesnt, just get its drivers to usb and load them from there by pressing F something before you install win. it says that before you install windows there. if you arent going to install windows on it, install their drivers once you plug them in. like a sound card. simple as that. the interface uses SATA cabling.

If the Controller card has SATA ports than use the cables link there, else you need true SAS cables

No, I don't think so. SAS is compatible with SATA, but SATA is not compatible with SAS... It is a one-way road ie: You could use the controller card for SATA HDDs, but you can't use the mobo's SATA for SAS drives

i dont think these sucker will up anytime soon, im on unemployment thus the budget build, luckily i got these for free and my friend new some people at frys so i was able to buy some of my stuff for nearly free

no worries i know exactly how that is... (i've used up all of my unemployment tho )

They got a Fry's here in Atlanta (i'm closer to athens tho) and they usually have good deals if you know what to look for, also with TigerDirect if you can find a retail outlet. (I got lucky and there's a new store 10-15miles from me haha) I'm also near a Microcenter as well so I guess I'm in a good spot as far as PC components go... now if i could just get a job haha

im in Cali, im in the same position as you ahahaha, frys is only like 4 miles down the street, and microcenter is a good 10 minutes down the freeway by my house...my unemployments almost up too so i gotta start looking, first place is frys lol if i get in ill def be spending my money there
