No. They are made for a set resolution and that resolution alone.

If the display has a native resolution of 600 vertical pixels, how can you set it to a higher one? The only way is with pan and scan. Is this what you see?

Regardless, an LCD monitor should always be run at its native resolution. Just try telling that to the muppets at work... :shadedshu

OMG my netbook can't do 100000 x1000000 pixels I iz sad :(

lol sorry for the crude sarcasm, but I haven't slept... And your LCD screen is limited to 1024x600, if you want a higher resolution, you can connect your netbook to an external monitor. If your external monitor, is say, 1280x800, then you cannot go over 1280x800 without pan and scan AFAIK

You can often modify applications to run on 1024x600. What are the ones that are bothering you? Else you can buy an external monitor

Judging by the looks of the netbook I'm going to assume it has an Intel "graphics card", and if my memory doesn't fail me, I recall seeing somewhere on the internetz that you can "virtually" use a higher resolution on these kind of Intel Atom based netbooks.

I'm gonna see if I can find it again, brb.

EDIT: Here it is, now you can only use this on Windows 7, AFAIK, and since the actual screen physical resolution can't be changed the image is scaled down, so everything will look smaller:
  • Press Windows+R, write regedit and press OK;
  • Edit -> Find -> Display1_DownScalingSupported;
  • For all the entries found change their value from 0 to 1;
  • Press F3 and go to the previous step until no more entries are found;
  • Reboot;
Now some new, yet limited, resolutions should be available. Enjoy.
