WOOT! Just unlocked L3 cache on a Propus 620!

This is not even supposed to be possible, the only conclusion I can come up with is that this is one of the rare Deneb versions that came out right before they started using actual propus cores with no physical L3 cache.

I haven't done benchmarking yet, but it says I have 6mb of L3 in my BIOS, CPU-Z, and Sisoft Sandra, so I'm positive that this worked.

It wouldn't say I have L3 cache if the unlock didn't actually work.

I wish it would read Phenom II instead of Athlon II though.

I have a 620 that unlocked and runs great @ 3.25Ghz. I would go further but the board has a 95W limit and I'm the cautious type...sometimes. Congrats on have a lucky one :toast:

I've been running Battlefield 3 on high @ 1920x1080 res on a slightly overclocked 4850, the CPU is rock solid stable.

EDIT: That's my first time doing printscreen on a dual monitor setup. Fucking 3600x1080 res lmao.

For the 780/790 chipsets you just go to CPU config in bios and enable ACC(clock calibration) and then unleash mode. Keep the other settings on auto is what I've done but most bioses give lots of options for different core speeds and such.

This will also automatically unlock any cores as well as any cache you may have.

If your 4th core is defective(I've had bad luck in unlocking cores of 2 dual cores so far) I would set it up to disable the core, but still keep ACC on(you'll figure out how to set it up) and you can run that athlon x3 with the cache of a Phenom even if the 4th core doesn't work it's still a hell of an upgrade.

Goodluck though, it's really simple. It's kind of like gambling expecting those chips to unlock sometimes.

EDIT: I can notice a big difference while gaming and just general OS usage, opening apps, etc.

I'm so excited.

L3 cache makes a bigger difference than I thought it would. Everything runs better. I got so lucky, not many propus even have l3 cache to unlock.

Time to lower that ram and start pushing more bclk to raise NB frequency, that's where you will gain even more performance

Ok, JR, my NB is at 2ghz right now, and my HT link is at 1.5ghz. What are safe values for these? I just don't want instability, it's 100% 24/7 stable for my current settings which is why I haven't really tried to dial anything in more.

EDIT: Wow, going to 2ghz HT link and 2.25ghz NB speed it increased my RAM read/write speeds and decreased it's latency. I had no idea HT link / NB speed had that big of a difference. It even increased my cache speeds for my CPU by a good bit.

From what I've read I don't need to increase my HT link past 2ghz, but I've seen some people run the NB frequency at like 3ghz so I'm curious to what the safe speeds for the NB are. I'm thinking of trying 2.5ghz NB.

Yep! keep your HT at ~2Ghz & increase your NB but most will reach between 2.4-2.7Ghz stable , i got mine at 2.660Ghz with 1.4v on the NB & 1.525v on the CPU

Some will said that the safe max limit for the NB is 1.450v & others will said 1.550v same as the CPU...

In my case i tried up to 1.525v on the NB but gain nothing still was unstable past 2.660Ghz so i left it at that with 1.4v NB

2.4 to 2.7 Ghz NB is best possible range for performance.
You won't see much performance increase over 2.6Ghz.
As for voltage, that depends on your cpu... my cpu NB can handle 2.7Ghz @ 1.275v.
Forget about Thuban reports, that cpu is not comparable to yours. Look for comparisons with Denebs.

Hypertransport... it's possible to increase that, but it may cause instability... you'll have to experiment. Also check to see what your mobo can handle in that department, if you raise the HTT frequency. Raising the HTT frequency may require more voltage... if you're already putting more into your CPU + NB, I'd recommend just staying at 2Ghz.

I managed to unlock an x3 445 to a full Phenom II equivalent with 4 cores and 6mb of L3 on my brother's computer. He doesn't know that I did that for him but I was chuffed that I managed to do it. Works fine too at 3.1GHz (stock)

There is a black bar along the bottom of the 2nd half of the screen so i guess that's the bit been filled in to make the 1050 up to 1080.
