I played it two weekends ago, I would personally recommend you don't play it, and wait till release. And if you can't wait, just give it 30-60 mins to see if the gameplay is for you.

Generally I loved the game, but I'm also a fan of Diablo series, the game is pretty well optimized, and I have big expectations for content after the beta (only 1/3 of Act 1).

Got my beta email the other day, played it. Seems more like a demo. Not full content, only can do a few things. Not enough to really tell if I like the game yet.

DIII is outdated, think of dark souls/ demon souls, being an proper evolution of the model. Loot + Grind + Mp + NG'+s

Also got a beta invite yesterday. It seems pretty decent, however I've only played about 10 minutes of it before I had to get ready to go to work today

As far as the scaling of the game, it runs so smooth on my system. Keep in mind that I have a 120 hz monitor and it SEEMS like it gets upwards of about 120fps, didn't run fraps on it yet, but I'm going to check it out later when I get home tonight and post an update.

This is a game about pure gameplay and replayability. NOT graphics. Who the hell cares if it doesn't compare to the likes of those games you mentioned?

To answer your question.

YAY.

edit: Just played a little more when I got home and it definitely plays very smooth at a constant 60 fps (vsync on) with no drops at all. Strange, maybe when it goes gold it will switch back to 120 so it gets in sync with my monitor. So far playing as the Witch Doctor is very fun and unorthodox. Not your usual Necromancer your used to playing with in Diablo 2. I'm defintely going to have to try all other chars after I finish up.
