what is bf3 system requirement's, and would a hd 5850 handle it?

as long as you have 4 gigs of RAM with that 2500k and 5850, your good to play BF3 on atleast high settings

I have an i5-2500k, HD5850, and 8GB DDR3-1600, and I play it fine on High (around 50 fps). You should have similar results.
