Is there any stress software that tests if the North Bridge voltage is ok and if it is stable to a given FSB freq?

I'm pretty sure that Intel Burn Test with memory usage set to "high" will stress the Northbridge plenty. :)

Ok, i'll give it a try...

I have an Asus P5K Pro and I'm at 541Mhz on FSB and I was running Prime95 with no errors for at least 20 minutes but my explorer and my AV crashed once or twice...

That's pretty darn high. Make sure it's being cooled well and that temps are safe.

I have 1.51v on NB and CPU is at 6x, so the CPU is not at very high freq. 3200Ghz i think...

The mems are at 1072 from 1066 default...

Edit:

IBT made 5 passes at "high" stress level with no errors but some crashes still coming up sometimes. Firefox crashed once...

I'm talking about temps on the northbridge, not the CPU. Why are you using such a high frequency on the northridge?

I was trying to find out the max Freq for my board... The cooler it's not too hot... It's cold now here where I'm from... I don't think it's too hot...

I'm always probing the cooler with my fingers...

Well.. hopefully the cooler is making good contact with the NB chip. It really shouldn't be "cold" at that frequency and voltage. Have you tried using any kind of software monitor? Asus AI Suite or PC probe should be able to give you NB temps. I say this because your rig isn't stable as you mentioned explorer crashing. Prime95 only stresses the CPU.

Go with PC Probe, it's more for sensors.

I don't think that PC Probe has any voltage sensor for North Bridge, at least with my P5K Pro...

Or is it the sensor that says MB in the screen just above CPU?

Beyond Asus AI Suite and PC Probe, isn't there any other software that measures NB temp?

No offense but even if it did measure NB temps, the sensors may be off or not functioning at all. I would pull the board, remove the heatsink and reseat just to be 110% certain it is making contact.

Check my system specs - I have an E8400 @ 4Ghz and an Asus P5B mobo, very similar to your setup. But my Northbridge voltage is set to the lowest allowed in the bios. Never had any problems. Why do you want to increase your NB voltage so much?

Remember what we talked about a bit ago? It may help with the overall feel of the system.

Nope, I used to remember things but then took an arrow to the knee...

Anyway what I meant is that if your pc is stable in stress tests, and stable in-game, then there's no need to push up any voltages, NB or otherwise. And the OP's system is quite similar to mine.

That is indeed a good idea... I'll do that soon.

I just wanted to test the max FSB freq that my board handles... So i have to raise FSB and NB voltage too...

And at this moment i have 1.41v with 525Mhz and it looks stable with Prime95... I don't want to keep this settings 24/7, it's just to check out my board's max...

My goal is 500 Mhz for 24/7 or a bit more...

And I did want too, to check my cpu max and my mem max freq, each at a time!!!

What's your FSB speed?

I can't set my E8400 @ 4.0Ghz with such low vCore (1.28v)... Now way... As i can't too, set it to 4.2Mhz with such low vCore of 1.35v

Help me on this questions:

SuperPI32M tests what? CPU stability, FSB stability, mems stability or 2 or more of these 3 items at the same time?

Prime95/Orthos/IBT tests mostly CPU, FSB, mems or 2 or more of these 3 items at same time?

What you mean by "Wound out to the moon"???

I know that it's not a fast CPU nowadays... But it's what I have now... There no money to upgrade...

And I would like to figure out what's my board top max limits an CPU Freq, FSB Freq and mems Freq...

So I'm asking for some help and tips to achieve it...

Hoping you can answer my couple a questions I've made in the previous post...

Cheers

Black Panther. You were my favorite mod. But then I took an arrow to the knee joke to my eyeballs.

I'll miss you. :(

Edit:

Sorry for the attempted threadjack. Any advice I could offer was already given by previous posters. Good luck, my friend!

meaning thats one hell of a overclock dangerously so if you continue to redline it its probly gonna blow up you
coaxing more and more fsb is only gonna make it unstable/shorten the life span of the components
the limit for more 775 boards is about where you are and thats ~450 ~500mhz
I would not push beyond 475Mhz with out a after market active heatsink

You mean a 3rd party heatsink to NB?
yes or at the very very very least some artic Mx4 thermal and a 50mm or 40mm fan on the stock heatsink
those temp sensors are not to be trusted there is no way you are at 30c at 500Mhz at 1.51v
