Since we reported on the AMD Bulldozer hotfix, The Tech Report reports in an updated post, that the Bulldozer threading hotfix said to improve performance of the processor, has been pulled:
We've spoken with an industry source familiar with this situation, and it appears the release of this hotfix was either inadvertent, premature, or both. There is indeed a Bulldozer threading patch for Windows in the works, but it should come in two parts, not just one. The patch that was briefly released is only one portion of the total solution, and it may very well reduce performance if used on its own. We're hearing the full Windows update for Bulldozer performance optimization is scheduled for release in Q1 of 2012. For now, Bulldozer owners, the best thing to do is to sit tight and wait.
It will be very interesting indeed to see how this much maligned processor benchmarks after the fully developed patch is released. It's true, actually attempting to download the hotfix and agreeing to the licence terms, at the moment, one is lead to a page that shows it as unavailable.

Anyone when the second part is due....I know it like asking "how long is a bit of string?".

Just wondered for those with a better than average educated guess

1- Bulldozer owners arent suffering or anything like that, hey have good performance
2- PC buyers of 2012 Q1 might prefer waiting for Ivy-Bridge
3- DOH!

I don't want to sound fanboyist but this architecture seems more a soap CPU opera other than anything :D
I for one would like to see a competitive AMD but naturally a patch won't do the trick.
Anyway a good performance boost is very well welcomed and wished for whoever purchased an FX chip :)

I own the FX6100 in my secondary game rig, I have not patched and my PC is fast and smooth. I am an avid gamer and do not care about synthetic benchmarks... I run BF3 with high framerates and it never hickups.

And go on, admit it, you love seeing those 8 hardware threads in Task Manager. ;) :D

Well, it looks like you'll get to enjoy even better framerates soon. :toast:

What a bunch of whiners. Ghee, patch this, update that, tweak this, upgrade that...and the bastard still won't perform properly. I'm laughing at everyone who bought into this craziness. Sandy Bridge kicked AMD's ass, Ivy Bridge will slaughter it. :)

We know, us owners we are a crazy bunch.

I'm laughing at everyone who bought into this craziness

Im not getting into this fanboy nonsense. I paid less than £200 for my FX-, motherboard and 8GIG DDR3.

All because of the rep the FX is getting , wish the rep was worse, cash in my pocket.

It's going to get interesting once the whole thing is finally released. Depending on the results I have to assume that some review sites may need to redo benchmarks.

I must be some silly goat, I never even thought troll....dang.

Hope this full patch does justice for us owners, even if it doesnt its not a bad chip.

Took me 28 minutes to re-code a 700meg file on my last PC, ConvertX, turn it to eight cores less than 5, still very happy.

@trickson with BD = Big Disappointment

Oh, that's cruel, lol.

Judging from the various articles I've read about BD and later revisions, I think it might not be quite as big a train crash as it is right now. And once again, this is good news for all of us, more competition benefits both AMD & Intel users. We just have to wait and see.

Seems a bit strange to me that a CPU would need a program to help it be faster ! LOL BD is just a bust ! Now why is it that there is no program to help Intel CPU users ? I mean come on this is just pure BS ! Favoring one chip because of it's short comings is bad business !

Look, being an owner make me a more than a little protective of it.

Microsoft scheduling is an issue with BD, we need a patch.
When my older brother and I were young I was always having plasters on my knee (must have been the arrows) he never fell down so no plasters his way.

I dont blame anyone for the hiccup that is scheduling in windows but lets get it fixed before stones are thown eh?

The dual core optimizer never got this stick, why now does BD get it.
I know Intel "rules" but to put in a better light how about "we love you to AMD"

Its like the accident prone brother, a chip that need more care if you will.
No more bashing, we know Intels are the sporty brother, AMD needs love as well.

Sure does seem a bit one sided when AMD gets the performance enhancements and Intel get shit ! I do not think AMD is really that far behind at all ! AMD'S BD is a very fast chip but what it lacks is some performance enhancements that only are going to apply to AMD Chips NOT TO Intel's Chips ? That to me is a bit f'ed up ! AMD has some fast CPU's and now they get a enhancement were as Intel is left in the dust ?

"Its not the winning that counts, its the taking part" as my old mum used to say.

Its fair to say Intel dont need help, but to berate someone/thing for needing it is naughty.

What the hell are you talking about? If there was a problem with the scheduling on an Intel Chip you can bet your last dollar that they would issue a patch to fix it. Probably a lot sooner than this.

Besides, if you think this patch is going to turn BD into an SB killer, I have a bridge in London that I'll sell you for cheap.

I am not berating any one and this is not about you or your brother .
What I am seeing is a singling out . Microsoft is working with AMD and developing a " HOT FIX " For what ? So that AMD can run faster ? If you need this to = the performance of your competitor then you are cheating , It is like taking steroids because your body is not as developed as your opponents ! This is illegal ! But I digress . AMD needs a driver for it's BD CPU and this driver ( Hot Fix ) will give it the edge it needs to run things faster and better ? Man if you need all that why not just go with the WINNING TEAM in the first place ? Intel FTW !!!! :rockout:
