Hello, i want to buy a new SSD tomorrow...

the last one i had died last year (was a gen 1 value drive 30gb.... one of the very first to ever come out)

now im looking for one of the newer sata 3 drive that read around 550mbps, i have found 3 i like so far for the price,

60GB Corsair$149
http://www.corsair.com/force-series-gt-60gb-sata-3-6gbps-solid-state-hard-drive.html

90GB Corsair Price: $165
http://www.corsair.com/force-series-3-90gb-sata-3-6gbps-solid-state-hard-drive.html

60GB Corsair: $110 (i cant find a corsair link for this drive?)
http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=159&bid=2&sid=75284

60GB OCZ: $119
http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-vertex-3-sata-iii-2-5-ssd.html

now id be pushing it for the 90GB drive, i really cant afford as it is... or any higher currently. (this is not for storage anyway... i have a 6TB array for that.... pretty much Windows + WoW)

seems like the best option is the OCZ drive? what do you guys think?

here is a link to the website i will be buying from

I'd go for the OCZ vertex myself, they use faster memory chips, corsairs Force GT use the same, the regular force 3 is more comparable to OCZ's agility series

The A in the model number, CSSD-F60GB3A-BK, was done to seperate the old drives pre-firmware 1.3 with the new batches due to all the problems the original firmware had.

Corsair Force Series™ 3 60GB SATA 3 6Gb/s Solid-State Drive

60GB OCZ: $119

The primary difference between the Force GT and Vertex 3 to the Force 3 is the nand used, the Force GT and Vertex 3 uses 25nm synchronous, and the Force 3 uses 25nm asynchronous, meaning that the Force GT and Vertex 3 can handle moving incompressible data more easily than the asynchronous drives.

If you value speed over size then go with the Vertex 3, otherwise go with the 90GB Force 3.

You'll enjoy it. I can barely stand working on a machine without an SSD now. They will ruin you forever.

I have a 60gb vertex 3, goes great-over 500r/w or thereabouts, hasnt slowed down so far, no bsods, done two firmware updates since purchase and no probs there either,fast too,i run a 500gb-wd for storage, os on v3, and a few progs/games,still got 20gb left over, go for it, i can recommend ocz {personally}

, i get the feeling that the sandforce bug was blown a bit out of proportion [but thats just my op]

I love my vertex 3. Speeds are very close to advertised and as above, updated firmware without a hitch at least twice, maybe 3 times. OCZ

I'm not sure the sandforce bug was overstated, for those of us who were affected by it, it sucked. But the problem was very random, people with identical setups didn't both have the issue. I read assloads of info on it and eventually fixed it thanks to OCZ being on top of working on it.
I can't say the others are bad though. I can only recommend what I've personally used.
