What Exactly is my Problem? (FPS is low in games)

First, let me show you my set up:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2159716

I would also like to note I have this power supply:
hec X-Power Pro 650 650W Continuous @ 40°C ATX 12V...
(The Output under Details is wrong, It is actually +3.3V@30A , +5V@28A , +12V1@17A , +12V2@15A , -12V@0.3A , ~5Vsb@2.0A , According to the Box)

Ok, so now that you have that, What exactly is wrong with that set up?

To be exact, it seems that games run no better now from when I had my 8600 GT (I *JUST* Upgraded the Video Card and Power Supply within the last week).

For example, Minecraft still only gets ~40 FPS (I'm just using this as a Reference, I could care less how many FPS's I get on Minecraft, just know it shoul be MUCH higher), and on Far Cry 2 I only get ~10-25 FPS on Max (Which it should be higher, correct me if I'm wrong).

I updated the Video Drivers as soon as I got it to the Latest Beta on on the Website, So I wouldn't think that would be the issue.

I attached the "dxdiag" log file if you need it.

If you need ANYTHING else to help me, just ask. I just seriously REALLY want to play games without problem (I mean, I seriously didn't pay ~$250 on the Upgrades to be at the same point I was before all this).

Thanks for Reading!

At a guess, especially if you are running your CPU at stock clocks, your CPU is a massive bottleneck to your Gfx Cards performance, at those speeds it just cannot churn out the data that your graphics card is throwing at it. try overclocking it a little, then test performance/FPS again, if you see an improvement then thats it.

and That's Exactly what I thought. :/

I'm a Massive Noob at Overclocking is the problem, though I would be glad to learn if anyone is will to help.

Edit 1- Also, if It happens to break, Honestly, As long as it doesn't mess up anything else, it wont be a problem, I will just use an old Dual Core I had until I can further upgrade it (Honestly, I didn't see an Improvement over the Dual and Quad Core, lol, at least I got it cheap).

Edit 2- Would it be more worth it to Return the Video Card and Instead get a New CPU+Motherboard+Ram for ~$200 (and if so, any Suggestions)? or just to overclock?)

Before you go returning stuff, what model dual core is it? Is it the 4k listed? Also to overclock that x4, lower the ram to 333mhz set 1.25v cpu core voltage and continually bring up the fsb til you get no windows boot, remembering the increment before with a good boot & report back with results.

EDIT:

Oh just want to mention, the Phenom I series weren't bad chips they were just not the greatest overclockers. Also, pull the Kingston sticks, 2 dimms may help assist with ovreclocking and wouldn't hurt your performance with 4GB.

The Dual core would be AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 1MB Socket AM2 Dual-Core CPU (Haven't used it in a LONG time). Also, I couldn't return the Quad, only the video card sadly, but that would give me $200 to spend.

I could get, if I returned the video card, these:
BIOSTAR A870U3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX ...
CORSAIR 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333...
AMD Athlon II X4 645 Propus 3.1GHz Socket AM3 95W ...

Also, I have no idea to do what you told me to. Like I said, I'm a noob overclocker. How do I lower the Ram and Bring up the CPU Voltage?

How do I lower the Ram and Bring up the CPU Voltage?

In cell menu

Only adjust these values listed:

CPU Ratio to 11x
FSB/Dram Ratio: 667
Auto Disable PCI frequency: Enabled (will be disabling spread spectrum so this will help keep EMI low)
CPU Voltage: 1.25-1.275(round down closest to 1.25)
Spread Spectrum: Disabled

Under HT Link configuration
FreqAuto: Disabled
Freq: 1000mhz
Link: 16 16

From there adjust CPU FSB going up in increments of 5, pushing F10 save/exit between each increment, until you either get no windows boot or up to 800mhz dram speed again. If no windows boot, drop back by an increment of 7, then run prime95 for at least 1 hour. If you crash in prime 95, drop FSB again by increments of 3 until you can pass it.

Kingston? Those are the 2Gigs Sticks, removing them will leave me with only 2 Gigs of Ram overall. Do you mean remove the Corsair?

Well, in my opinion the first Phenom processors are poor cpus, since they did have the TLB-bug, and are power/energy-hungry processors, while at the same time being poor overclockers.

The Dual core would be AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 1MB Socket AM2 Dual-Core CPU (Haven't used it in a LONG time). Also, I couldn't return the Quad, only the video card sadly, but that would give me $200 to spend.

It's a shame that you can't return the X4 9500 because it has the TLB-bug; the bugfix will reduce performance further more). The K9N2 SLI Platinum you already have can support Phenom II, so you don't have to buy a new motherboard and DDR3 memory, just re-use the DDR2 memory you already have; so you can buy a Phenom II X4 955BE (which is a good and easy overclocker thanks to the unlocked multiplier) instead of the Athlon II X4 645.

Wouldn't it overall be better for me in the end to Upgrade to DDR3 Anyways? I don't have money to get ANYTHING unless I return the Video Card, which I REALLY don't want to do, but would if it would overall help my computer and games.

DRAM prices are about to jump up quite a bit but its hard to decide if you want the video card or upgrade the rest of the components. I say keep the video card and save up for a 965BE for your current setup. I have seen some used go for around 80$ on the B/S/T sections

Just overclock the CPU, a couple of hundred Mhz can go a fair way in FPS increases, do as was suggested in the earlier post...... overclocking a couple of hundred is not extreme and should be fairly easy, if you manage to get to 3gig you will see some decent Gfx performance improvements that will give you a smile.

Ok, Before I start, You want me to remove the Kingston Ram? That would bring my Total Ram to 2 Gigs. Though I do see that the Corsair is 800 MHz.

Yes, the Corsair. Sorry. Check out my post above, I edited it.

Well let's see, what model is the card? Have you a link? Would hate to see you do that but if you can't experience proper gameplay. Also is Far Cry 2 the only game you are having low FPS in?

@TC-man

Ok ok so maybe I was trying to be a little bit nice. LOL

@brandon's reply

If it means a 1090t over an x4 925 I would stick to ddr2.

Also can you update your system specs in userCP for us to better recognize your setup? THANKS!

I agree that with what he has now, he should just upgrade the CPU and stay DDR2

@Tatty

He's lucky to get 2.7Ghz out of that cpu unfortunately.

@Brandon

PhenI x4 9500 @ 2.2Ghz
MSI K9N2 Plat
2x2GB Kingston+ 2x1GB Corsair
GTX560 Ti
HEC 650w Xpower

@twicksisted

But he could drop in even a x4 630 and it would still outperform his current quad at half the price.

I know how attractive it is now to buy 8 GB DDR3 ram for such a low price. But you will not be able to game with your current rig with just a Geforce 8600gt.

Then about about returning the Geforce GTX560(ti?) and exchange it for e.g. an AMD HD5770/6770 (which is still a lot faster than the Geforce 8600gt) and Athlon II X4 645, then re-use the DDR2 memory with the MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum?

Or go for the mentioned X6 1090T route, but you need to save up for a better gaming videocard in the meantime.

Ok, did the overclocking exactly how you said, got it up to the 800mhz dram and stopped.

Computer seems to be running well. I'm looking up prime95 like you said right now.

Its not a TI, and it isn't a good enough video card already?

Nah what he's saying is if you were to return the 560, he is stating what you should get for replacement.

Cool! Let us know how it goes! :) And a CPUz report would be grande.

Here's a link to Prime95
ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v266.zip

Just drag/drop and put it on desktop for now, running/launching from there.
