AMD X3 720BE vs X6 1055T, video encoding

Hey guys! I am wondering how these two compared. I use DVDFAB and want to start blu ray encoding. Would there be a big difference between the two at stock? Would I be better off overclocking the X3 720? Thanks in advance mates!

The x6 is way better at encoding. There isn't much of a comparison there.

Thanks for the quick reply. How much of a difference are we talking about? Ripping a blu ray currently takes about 4 hours.... Would the X6 even beat an OC'd X3?

I don't do much encoding myself, but with twice the cores it should cut your time in half. So it would beat an overclocked x3 and then you could overclock the x6 for even faster results.

Theoretically where the X6 has double the cores than the X3 you would need double the Ghz on the X3 to compete with the X6 in video encoding. There's really no contest. X6 is the faster encoder hands down.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I can lessen the financial blow from buying the 1055t by selling the X3 720BE. Any idea what is considered a fair price for it?

I forgot to specify that I was referring to how much I can sell my current X3 720BE for. ~130-140 USD seems quite high but I would gladly accept that offer

I'd try to sell X3 720 BE for ~20-30% less than the average price of (new) X3 Athlon's
So, since AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2GHz goes for $78 on NewEgg, I'd try selling the X3 720 BE for $60, maybe even $50

Thought you were asking a fair price on the 1055t. For the 720 black: ~55.

Considering a new OEM(without heatsink) x3 720 is about $75, I think $65 would be a reasonable price.

X6 ftw. i use dvdfab too. FPS will double using the X6 v. X3. Get the X6 and disable 3 cores if you want the x3, enable the 3 other cores when you feel you need more performance!
