I also don't give two shits about privacy.

Do you have blinds at your house? Do you have tint on your windows? Do you have a password on your computer? Do you have your facebook open for all to see? Do you post your phone number on the internet? How about your address? I personally call bullshit that you don't care about privacy maybe certain aspects, but I guarantee you are still a private citizen who does things in the private.

Probably because he may not have anything bad to hide.

But there has to be limits to how much information organizations can see.

Nope not a clue, but since you didn't bother to do your own research.

Now as a freedom loving American I find SOPA to invade my privacy in the same way a those illegal phone taps your conspiracy theorizing self pointed out.

Lol... I guess you couldn't make a rational argument to how it invades your privacy.

What's funny is your service carrier for your cellular device monitors your web usage, but I don't see you crying. Every time you use your credit/debit card, they monitor where exactly is used and give your information to the store so they can collect census of geographic information regarding where most residents reside and where they can setup their next store. Every time you dial 911, regardless if it rings, your location is automatically tracked, but I don't see you crying that they didn't get your permission first. Every time you connect to a game server or a website, your IP is logged/tracked; and for people who don't use Dynamic IPs, they aren't so lucky to hide behind a masked IP; but you're not crying they didn't get your permission. Every time you go to the ATM, you're being video recorded. Every time you cross a red light camera they take a picture/video of your vehicle.

So my question to you, is why the hell are you so hypocritical about your ISPs monitoring what sites you go to, when you shouldn't be going to those sites anyways, and the fact that the information obtained can't even physically/emotionally harm you. There are far more threatening things out there and you pick SOPA to fight against? Like I said, bandwagoneer who picks something easy to go along with because it's only a click away from spamming representatives with worthless emails. Freedom loving American? All you are is a lazy person who's too lazy to get physically involved with something that matters. So you can boast about your freedom all you want, but just remember, you're still behind a desk not making a difference.

All you're saying is that you're mad that what their proposing may actually work.

So once again, not a single rational argument has been proposed to how SOPA invades privacy.

@Undead46

So let's see if I can sum up your argument: because our privacy has already been significantly eroded, we should just let those in power continue to do so more and more intrusively and all in the name of 'protecting against piracy'.

Are you serious? :shadedshu

My argument: You're not fighting against anything but SOPA, so why are you hypocritical?
If you cared so much about your privacy, you wouldn't even be on the internet in the first place. How's that for unmonitored? -.-

What? Yeah, people and companies are fighting against SOPA, because it invades privacy and freedom of speech even more and the excuse for this shit is 'piracy'. What's so hard to understand?

But that's just it, it doesn't. It's already being done, but because it's not by the government it's acceptable?

If one cared so much about their privacy, they won't be leaving their homes. Well, that's still not sufficient. How's that for unmonitored?

If one cared so much about their privacy, they won't be leaving their homes in their "own" island. Well, still not enough. How's that for unmonitored?

If one cared so much about their privacy, they won't be leaving their homes in their "own" island within their own "sovereignty." Well, other still know you're in there. How's that for unmonitored?

Lol... I guess you couldn't make a rational argument to how it invades your privacy.

So it physically monitoring everything I do wasn't rational enough?
What's funny is your service carrier for your cellular device monitors your web usage, but I don't see you crying. Every time you go to the ATM, you're being video recorded. Every time you cross a red light camera they take a picture/video of your vehicle.

Cell carriers service plans say everything is monitored and gives me the option to view what they recorded. CC/DC purchases have been tracked since they came out. Nice thing about monitoring is if a card is stolen I know were it got used and get the money back. That same tracking is done by stores every time I buy something with any form of currency. Run a bestbuy out of stock on certain TV's they know to carry more at that store. Steams EULA mentions the IP monitoring and it helps them chose what games to put on sale. ATM's don't exactly invade anyone's privacy not to mention they have a HUGE sign that says they are video taping. Next you are going to compare walmarts CCTV in the parking lot.
All you are is a lazy person who's too lazy to get physically involved with something that matters. So you can boast about your freedom all you want, but just remember, you're still behind a desk not making a difference.

Oh so now the government gets to decide what websites I visit? I shouldn't visit things that Obama and congress say I shouldn't go to? Like what TPB? whats next I can't visit youtube because there are tons of copyrighted songs on there that have no sources. Then what's after that facebook because I wore a shirt that said UT and that's a registered trademark? How about imageshack getting closed down because people uploaded screenshots? Who is the moderator on this? It's not going to be the ISP's sure it might start with torrents, warez sites and the such, but what happens without a checks and balance system on that? Like hell if I will standby while some asshats set something that will fuck me in the future.
All you're saying is that you're mad that what their proposing may actually work.

So once again, not a single rational argument has been proposed to how SOPA invades privacy.

May work at what? Shutting down what sites not even hosted in the US? TPB is hosted in Sweden. While they are shutting down the websites are we going to stop letting us use their banks? It is not the governments place to monitor and block websites. That is stepping well into my life. The US is a democracy not an oligarchy. The MPAA and other rich fucks who only care about big business shouldn't decide what I can and cannot do. This is just another play when big business makes congress bow to its whims and set up precedents so they can fuck the people over.

I don't know what it will change. I bet riaa or someone else will invent better methods to track and bust people. Privacy is dead anyway.

Conspiracy theory much?
One out of a million people get busted and you're scared of the government.

Looks like they won if they've instilled fear into you.

Not a single argument has been presented to why SOPA is illegal or invades privacy. Thinking it's going to stop is funny.

Better believe the American government scares me. And I can provide logs from peerblock showing the dozens of ap2p scans being done on me while I dl a perfectly legal linux distro iso. If you saw the list, it would scare you, I guarantee it. I even get scans from time to time when I'm not dling anything, so I have to leave peerblock running at all times now. It is an invasion of privacy, and how would they like it if I udp port pounded them right back? Not acceptable at all.

Do you have blinds at your house?

Sure, but I only use them when it gets too sunny.

Do you have tint on your windows?

No.. Never heard of anyone who tints their house windows.

Do you have a password on your computer?

No, why would I? It's just me and my girlfriend and we don't keep secrets.

I assume that when I have kids I won't keep porn on the computer, so again, don't see a reason.

Do you have your facebook open for all to see?

I don't have Facebook. But yeah, if I did, I would.

Do you post your phone number on the internet?

Yeah, but I mostly only use Skype and I can change my number if I want.

How about your address?

Yes, because..

I personally call bullshit that you don't care about privacy maybe certain aspects, but I guarantee you are still a private citizen who does things in the private.

No, I do care about my privacy. I would mind if someone walked into my house and touched everything.

But I don't think that doing any of the above makes that more likely.
