What's the difference between these CPU coolers?

The one on the left is a JPower 1366-Ultra (local brand) and the other is a Spire Thermax Eclipse II.

Everything looks the same but will the materials used and the manufacturing process be the same?

I've seen that specific cooler from like 5 manufacturers by now. All perform similarly, of course the ones that ship with a higher CFM fan tend to do better. The main difference in the two you showed specifically is that the one on the right has a black nickel coating to keep the copper from turning brown (looks over the long term).

Thanks sneeky, that's the answer I was hoping for. That local Taiwan brand cooler sells for about $28US. About half the price of the Spire.

I'm sure there from the same factory but probably binned. The cheaper branded cooler could have more defects,like poor solder joints and grooves/bumps in base. The nickel plating on the spire would fill in any gaps in pipe to fin solder points and it looks like they resurface the base too. All in all a few Cs maybe or less with some at home polishing.

At that price difference and the physical similarity at least you won't have to sacrifice half the performance.

its the same, many branded and generic brands have the same design or they ordered and labelled with their brand
