Back in the day i was fiddeling around with an AMD64 Venice 3000+. gained an 45% OC from 1800mhz up to 2600mhz.

After that i bought a Quadcore Q6600, whith which i didnt OC, couldnt be arsed because it was fast enough :eek:

Now i have the i5 760 with an AMD Radeon HD 6950 with unlocked shaders and some nice 4gb pc16000 RAM. Recently the hardware virus caght me again, and so did the OC virus :rolleyes:!

Been buying some fans and a fancontroller, some laptop HD's and 8gb of RAM will soon follow :D

Before i install the fans and try to get a higher OC i wanted to know how high i could go now. Being limited to the AMD Overdrive settings the OC om my Graphics isnt that high, but Sapphire Trixx will come in handy later on :cool:

Stock settings: CPU 2,8ghz (133x21), GPU 800/1250 and RAM 1333mhz
OC Settings: CPU 4ghz (200x20), GPU 840/1325 and RAM 1600mhz

Stress test 4Ghz:


Idleing out:


Tests: 3DMark 11 for CPU and GPU, PCMark 7 for CPU and RAM.

Results 3DMark 11:
Stock CPU and GPU: 4889
Stock CPU and OC GPU: 5032
OC CPU and Stock GPU: 5248
OC CPU and OC GPU: 5462
11,7% Increase

Results PCMark 7:
Stock: 2636
OC: 3160
19,8% Increase

Not bad for a rusty OC'er :D

Allright, im gonna build in the fans now.
After that im gonna OC some more, and show some results ;)

Nice, OC'ing has gotten much easier though. I remember puhing a Q6600 to 3.6Ghz was big news.

Your temps are pretty high, what cooler do you have? Hows case airflow? May want to optimize that to help.

Add more voltage. And how does one ever have lousy airflow in a 692? Theres room for like 8 fans.

I will be spending the weekend @ my fiancées, so no OC madness..
Will be buying some Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb DDR3 1600Mhz this weekend though.

RAM arrived!



Accidentaly booted em up with my OC settings (200x20/vcore 1.4/ram 1.7/1600mhz), went straight on to windows :D

For safety i brought it back to stock with a bite (160x18/vcore auto/ram auto/1600mhz).

I will be stress testing on my old OC somewhere this week, now i am just glad the RAM works properly and i have 8gb!!!

A bit later than i though but here is the OC update!

The new RAM is amazing! They need 1.5v so im gonna put them on that.
This time i went with a slightly lower vcore: 1.35 (1.3v crashes and i used to have 1.4)
First a had my fans in silent mode, halfway i put em on full. This resulted in a 5 degree drop across the board.



With Sapphire Trixx i put my GPU @ 880/1375/1.175(6970 values)

With the custom fan control setting in furmark the tempuature leveled out around 60 degrees.



These tweaks resulted in a personal best 3dmark11 score: 5689!!

I5 760 is a good CPU! I had the server Xeon X3430 (almost same design) and it OCed 4ghz 1.4V and 4.2ghz 1.425V. My friend uses it now under water with a ATI 5770.
