Corsair 400R Case
Asus Maximus IV Extreme (Rev 3.0)
Intel i7-2600K
HIS IceQ X Turbo Radeon HD 6950 2GB
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x 4GB) 1600 Memory

Corsair Professional series HX650 PSU

Hi, I just built this PC last week and I am having issues with freezing and BSOD. This is the first system I have built in 8 years, but I have built 5 systems total. I have updated all drivers and BIOS. When I get the BSOD it doesn’t create a dump file, the BSOD freezes too. It freezes at random times, I can’t duplicate the exact instance. It will freeze while surfing the net, typing in MS Word, playing Skyrim (just once here). My temps while idle are between 32°C - 36°C for my CPU and 38° for the GPU. If I am running CIV3D or gaming the CPU runs no hotter than 55°C and the same for the GPU. I am using the stock heatsink and fan for the processor. The case I have has 2 120mm intake fans on the front and a 120mm exhaust on the rear. I have mounted a cheap 120mm exhaust fan on the top and I have ordered two 120mm fans, 1 to replace the cheap one as exhaust and 1 for the side of the case as an intake. I am also not overclocked. Please offer any suggestions! Thanks!

Did you install the Intel chipset drivers and any storage drivers? Looks like a HDD problem.

I installed all intel drivers and did the thorough chkdsk, it took about an hour and a half and found 1 error. I woke up this morning and pc was frozen again.

EDIT: Freezing is becoming more frequent.

Alot of time 0x80000000000000 is a bad stick of RAM. Try running each 4GB stick separately and see if it still crashes.

Nice meeting you too...Check PSU...

Why would it be the psu? It does it at random times when the system is not under load. And its not like its a random branded generic PSU either.

from the error codes it looks like a faulty drive Or drive controller possibly ram related ...
first thing first I would plug the sata cable into one of the gray ports ... or if its already plugged into the gray ports use one of the red ones ...
next I would take a look at the hard drive with something like HDtune or Chrystal disk info

I think it's fixed. It turned out to be a faulty mobo. I swapped it out and reinstalled OS and so far no freezing in 24 hrs.

Freezing and bsods. Not shutting down. Please read the OP. Big difference between freezing and shutting down.

Hmm this started to happen to me too, turned out to be a HDD issue as the RAID 5 kept breaking. I'm still sus about my mobo though as the model number on the mobo is on a sticker and underneath the sticker where it is printed on the board, it doesn't say its a B3 board :/. Very sus. Anyway hopefully the new mobo fixes everything and if it doesn't try a different HDD. :)
