I have just purchased an x1950pro 512mb AGP and have had to learn about PSU's in a hurry because i need to buy a new one to run this card..

If a psu has 2 x 12v lines does 1 12v line just go to the cpu and mobo while the other is for everything like hdd's gfx cards and optical drives??

eg- this card says it requires a 30a+ psu to run corrctly, but if say i had a psu with 18a & 18a on 2 seperate lines doe3s that mean really 1 x 18a is powering the gfx card and hdds dvd etc while the other is for cpu, in which case id need a bigger psu?

thanks

im not sure if you get 18amp on each rail ive never really looked into it mines a 600watt Ezcool with a 48amp rail and runs my radeon x1900xt and everything else fine i dont know if you live in the United Kingdom but if you have a Small Budget ive found a very nice looking 650watt that should be just fine and it comes with all cables nicley wraped for £29.99 i think its a bargin and nice to look at too and you will notice in the description it says 12v dual rails which could suggest both lines running its own amps too hope this helps.
