Which HD 7850 To get?

If you want to oc, don't get the sapphire! It has Elpida memory! I can't clock it higher than 1250mhz..
Get Asus or Powercolor, which probably have Hynix memory.

My 7970 has Hynix? Wonder why the shift in RAM across the series...

I was in similar situation recently and decided with MSI 7950 Tf3. My area had a sale on that put the card @ $10 more than 7870, I guess this time patience worked for me? Saying that; I'm glad I waited and glad I went with MSI. Havent installed yet (no MoBo) but something tells me I wont be dissapointed

I have used Saphire, Asus, ATi and now MSI. The MSI seems to be the best card I ever owned :eek:

Asus is over priced, Saphire can have spotty QC but CS is 2nd to none. Never had any trouble with my ATi branded cardz.

A little patience may go a long way right now if you can do the wait and see thing? The GHZ edition chips are coming out and knocking the prices down on the "older" cards...

Sapphire has always been AMD/ATI's biggest AIB. They have always made ATI's branded cards. Another reason why I have always stuck with Sapphire.

When ATi was still ATi majority of cards were put together by Saphire, you are correct

Had a couple problems with a 4890 vaporX so moved on to Asus and now MSI. Asus will never get another $$$ from me as long as I can help it :cool:

They've different strengths.

Twinfrozr has good thermal performance but poor acoustic performance ( above 50% sounds horrible due to small 70-80mm fans depending on model)

Where as the direct cu has great acoustic performance and decent thermal performance.

The whole AMD 7xxx series have hynix memory. Maybe sapphire decided to augment profit by using cheaper memory on some of their 7850.. Anyway, this card is not bottlenecked by bw. So core oc is what matters here, and that depends on your luck.
If the pcb is reference design, the brand will only matter for the cooler it has.
