During the last couple of weeks one could read a lot of so called 'news' about the upcoming graphics chip generation from AMD/ATI. What me really annoyed was the sheer ignorance that turned most of the rumors into facts right away. Without even thinking about it for a second many sites including ours presented the 'most final specifications' read out from the final silicon itself.
Please excuse us for acting like some wicked monkeys! Confronted with the best looking female counterpart one could imagine standing right beside a huge pile of bananas our brain goes crazy from time to time.
Anyway... the rumor I was talking about is more a feature the R600 definitely needs to survive the next years: HDMI. The implementation of this nifty little abbreviation is needed in order to play HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc in HD resolutions and to benefit from their full potential.
You want to read more? Then hop over to TheInquirer once more and read the whole story.

Yeah, let's stop posting news from theInq, VR-Z, OCQ, ... you name it. But take into consideration that our hits will go down by a good margin then...
I personally prefer to sort things out that smell like bogus - so should anybody else...

If there is any basis of fact in this, its is a great thing. My current rig will become my wifes for Vista(if and when we switch) I had planned to use her current PC as a HTPC/Server. but now I may rethink it and build something with one of the lower end X2xxx series instead and just use the old one as a Dedi Server for some of my Fave games(IL2 GTL GTR2)and put my 20Mbit connection to work

Let me get this straight; you talk about the "sheer ignorance that turned most of the rumors into facts right away" and then go ahead and post ANOTHER Inquirer link. This is a joke, right?

IMO, either stop posting Inquirer links or stop flaming people who read the articles that are posted.

Of course people are going to believe an article entitled "Final R600 Specs Revealed" because the title implies that that there is some truth in what has been posted. The News section on the home page should be reserved for confirmed news and not baseless rumors from sites like The Inquirer and VR-Zone.

Enough is enough.

I'm happy with that. I've posted stuff from there that's been total BS, and I'm not planning to use it anymore unless there is a source.

'twould be nice to have a card with HDMI because I hate trying to figure out which way to insert the DVI cable. I hope all monitors switch from DVI.

TheINQ reminds me of one of those BS newspapers you see when you're paying for grocies or at the little stands....you know the ones that say Britney Spears is an Alien and that MJ gave birth to a pig.....

Still that would be neat.....though I have nothing to plug that into. At least not that I know of.....

Eh?

R600 boards will be shipped with at least one DVI-to-HDMI dongle, with DVI serving as the bandwidth provider for video and audio.

But DVI does not carry audio. So a DVI to HDMI dongle cannot carry audio, only the video content of HDMI.
